With Storm Goretti due to start tonight, we know our carers will still be out there doing what they always do - showing up and supporting people 💪❄️

To make sure our team is looked after too, we’ve got FREE ND winter coats available in the office for our home care staff.

These are proper winter coats, built for working out in this weather and all sizes are available.

Icy days add extra challenges, so a few practical tricks can make things safer and smoother:

Hand sanitiser on frozen key safes 🔑
The alcohol helps melt ice quickly, saving time (and frozen fingers) when locks won’t budge.

Extra grip on footwear (even socks in a pinch) 👞
Added traction can reduce the risk of slips on icy paths and driveways ,not glamorous, but effective.

Warm keys in your hands before using locks 🔑
Cold metal freezes quickly; warming keys helps them turn more easily and prevents snapping.

Keep a windscreen scraper handy (old cards work too) 💳
Clear visibility is essential for safe driving, especially when travelling between calls.

Carry a power bank 🔋
Cold weather drains phone batteries faster, and your phone is essential for calls, directions, and safety.

Allow extra time and avoid rushing 🐌
Ice always wins when we rush ,slowing down reduces the risk of falls and accidents.

We have treated all our amazing carers to a box of chocolates this year! 🍫
(And no, you cannot trade them for annual leave)😂
