🧠💆♀️ What Actually Happens During an Equine Massage? 💆♀️🧠
Equine massage isn’t just about pampering—it's a targeted therapy that helps improve your horse’s physical and emotional well-being.
Here’s what I look for and work on during a typical session:
🔍 Observation: I start by watching how your horse moves, stands, and interacts. Subtle posture or gait imbalances can reveal a lot.
👐 Palpation: I use my hands to feel for areas of tension, tightness, or restricted movement in the muscles and fascia.
💆♂️ Massage techniques: Depending on what your horse needs, I may use:
💆♀️Effleurage to warm up tissue and boost circulation
💆♀️Compression to release deeper muscle tension
💆♀️Cross-fiber friction to break down adhesions or scar tissue
💆♀️Facial and poll work to support relaxation and relieve tension (often missed!)
🧘♀️ Relaxation: Most horses visibly soften during treatment—licking, chewing, yawning, and blinking. That’s the nervous system shifting into “rest and repair” mode.
✨ Benefits you may notice:
🐴 Looser, more fluid movement
🐴 Improved attitude and willingness
🐴 Better performance
🐴 Quicker recovery from work or injury
🐴 Relief from chronic issues like sore backs, girthiness, or uneven stride
Every horse is different, and I tailor each session to their needs on the day.
