Just a little insight into how I work 😊
At every visit, I carry out an in-hand assessment with each horse before their massage session. This allows me to observe movement, posture, and how the horse is feeling on the day.

If an owner feels their horse has a ni**le or discomfort under saddle but can’t quite pinpoint why, I also offer a ridden assessment. This helps me see how the horse moves when being ridden and tailor the massage to support them 🐴✨

Every horse is treated as an individual, with each session adapted to their needs on that visit 💗

Forgot to upload these! 💆‍♀️🐴

Rosie has really grown to love her massages — she fully relaxes now and gives the best yawns and releases! I noticed a bit of nostril asymmetry at the start of her session, which can sometimes indicate tension through the poll or neck. After some focused work, it evened out beautifully, and she finished her session looking soft and happy. ❤️

Also saw Zak and Lucy that day too — both were lovely as always, just no photos this time! 📸

It’s so rewarding seeing how much these sessions can help each horse feel more comfortable and relaxed. ✨

I had an amazing training day learning all about trigger point therapy 💆‍♀️✨

It was incredible to see just how much of a difference these techniques can make, especially helping to release tight or sore muscles, improve flexibility, and support overall comfort and performance.

What’s great is that trigger point therapy works beautifully alongside a regular massage or can be used as a stand-alone treatment depending on what your horse needs.

🧠💆‍♀️ What Actually Happens During an Equine Massage? 💆‍♀️🧠

Equine massage isn’t just about pampering—it's a targeted therapy that helps improve your horse’s physical and emotional well-being.

Here’s what I look for and work on during a typical session:

🔍 Observation: I start by watching how your horse moves, stands, and interacts. Subtle posture or gait imbalances can reveal a lot.

👐 Palpation: I use my hands to feel for areas of tension, tightness, or restricted movement in the muscles and fascia.

💆‍♂️ Massage techniques: Depending on what your horse needs, I may use:

💆‍♀️Effleurage to warm up tissue and boost circulation

💆‍♀️Compression to release deeper muscle tension

💆‍♀️Cross-fiber friction to break down adhesions or scar tissue

💆‍♀️Facial and poll work to support relaxation and relieve tension (often missed!)

🧘‍♀️ Relaxation: Most horses visibly soften during treatment—licking, chewing, yawning, and blinking. That’s the nervous system shifting into “rest and repair” mode.

✨ Benefits you may notice:

🐴 Looser, more fluid movement

🐴 Improved attitude and willingness

🐴 Better performance

🐴 Quicker recovery from work or injury

🐴 Relief from chronic issues like sore backs, girthiness, or uneven stride

Every horse is different, and I tailor each session to their needs on the day.

🌿 Equine Massage in Action 🌿

I had a fascinating experience recently with my own mare while she was recovering from colic surgery.

During her treatment, the vets couldn’t tube her through one nostril—it just wouldn’t allow it. Later, I noticed that same nostril was sitting higher than the other, which really caught my eye.

When she was finally well enough to enjoy some time out in the paddock, I took the opportunity to gently massage her head and face. Amazingly, after the session, her nostrils were even again.

✨ Just goes to show how subtle restrictions or tension can affect our horses in ways we might not immediately realise—and how responsive they can be to gentle, targeted bodywork.

This experience reminded me how valuable it is to really look at our horses and listen to what their bodies are telling us.

If your horse is showing small signs of imbalance or tension, massage therapy could make all the difference.

📩 I’m always happy to chat about how equine massage might benefit your horse.

Your horse doesn’t have to be sore or lame to benefit from massage.
It’s not about pampering—it’s about prevention and performance. 💪

Here’s what regular bodywork can help with:
🔹 Softening tension before it becomes restriction
🔹 Supporting better movement and muscle symmetry
🔹 Helping your horse feel looser, lighter, and more relaxed

Most owners notice subtle but powerful shifts—like fewer girth grumps, smoother transitions, or even improved mood.
Massage isn’t a luxury. It’s part of the conversation your horse deserves. 🐴💬
