Many parents buy drawing books and crayons without knowing WHY drawing matters. Today let's break it down.

The Pre-Primary curriculum says children should be able to:
βœ… Draw with pencils in different positions: in front of, behind, inside, outside
βœ… Do bead work with appropriate size, colour or shape (fine motor skill)
βœ… Create patterns with a variety of materials

What this is really building:
Grip strength (needed for writing)
Hand-eye coordination
Spatial understanding (what "inside the circle" means)
Patience and focus

Today's activity:
Draw a big circle on paper. Ask your child to:
1. Draw a house inside the circle
2. Draw a tree outside the circle
3. Draw a bird above the circle

3 drawings + 3 position words = learning by doing! 🎨

The Pre-Primary curriculum says children should be able to:
βœ… Copy simple patterns
βœ… Extend simple patterns (continue what they started)
βœ… Create their own patterns

Why patterns matter:
Patterns are the foundation of algebra and logical thinking. Children who understand patterns early find maths much easier in primary school.

Sometimes we see other children on social media speaking English at age 2, counting to 100 at age 3, and we begin to wonder if we are doing enough.

Let me tell you something today πŸ’›

Every time you:
🍽️ Name the food while feeding your baby, that's language development
Count their toes during bath time, that's early numeracy
🌳 Point to things outside and say their names, that's exploration & science
πŸ“– Tell them stories at night, that's literacy and imagination
πŸ€— Hold them, answer their calls, respond to their cries, that's emotional development

No special equipment. No expensive school. Just you, present and intentional.

We are here at Treasures by M&W to walk this journey with you, one post at a time. πŸ’›

For pikin to dey ask you question na sign say e brain dey healthy and e dey develop.

The Pre-Primary curriculum specifically list this one as goal say:
"Pikin suppose to dey ask questions about things he/she dey see or hear.

Children wey ask plenty questions dey:
🌟 More curious = better learners
🌟 More engaged = better at school
🌟 More confident = better at expressing themselves

Wetin you fit do when you no sabi the answer to your pikin question:
Just say β€” Good question! I no sabi the answer too. Make we find out together. Then open phone Google am, or look am for inside book.

That response dey teach us curiosity + honesty + teamwork! πŸ’›

Wetin be the funniest "why" question your pikin don ask you? πŸ˜‚ Drop am for comment section.

This one dey surprise many mama. Una know say before pikin learn how count well, them need to understand how to compare words?

The curriculum say children must:
βœ”οΈ Compare objects using words like: longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, hotter, colder, faster, slower
βœ”οΈ Use measuring tools when them dey play like: cups, rulers, even their own hands and feet
βœ”οΈ Understand positional words like: behind, in front of, inside, outside, between

Try this for evening when una dey chop for food:
As you dey serve food ask: "Which person plate of rice plenty pass? Which soup hot pass? Na the pot abi na the bowl big or small pass?

These questions sound simple but them they build wetin we call a MATHEMATICAL THINKING.

Which of these words your pikin dey already use?

22/04/2026

According to the Pre-Primary curriculum, children must sabi how to dowork puzzles with up to 10 pieces as part of their problem-solving development.

Why e matter?
βœ”οΈE dey build patience and persistence
βœ”οΈ E dey teaches how things fit together
βœ”οΈ Develop small finger movements
βœ”οΈ Increase confidence when them complete am.

Try am then drop your pikin reaction for the comments!
