Indigo Neuropsychology

Indigo Neuropsychology Specialist learning, developmental and neuropsychological assessments and interventions for children across the North East and Yorkshire.

Indigo Neurosychology is a UK based organisation providing psychological and neuropsychological assessment and treatment for children and their families. We are experienced Child Clinical Psychologists and Neuropsychologists, and accredited by the HCPC. Dr Angela Simcox also works at Great Ormond Street Hospital and has a number of associate psychologists as part of her team. Angela has worked with children with neurological and neurodevelopmental difficulties and their families for over ten years in a wide range of contexts. We have provided supervision, training, and consultation to a wide range of organisations, including schools, alternative care, NGOs and businesses. Angela is a paediatric neuropsychologist offering medico-legal assessment and reports. We provide a child–centred, psychological approach to children’s development and distress. Rather than working to a medical model where children’s differences and difficulties are described by diagnoses, our approach uses evidence based approaches to provide a holistic assessment of the child and their environment. This way of understanding children allows us to develop effective interventions that do not label or stigmatise the child. We identify how the child can best be supported, building on the strengths of the child and their family. We believe that families and carers are vital to both understanding and supporting children so we often work directly with parents, carers, and teachers to enhance their understanding of a child’s strengths and difficulties. We not only work with children to build their confidence and skills but also provide interventions that equip the adults around the child with the skills they need to effectively support them through their difficulties and throughout development.
