Spring is just around the corner and February is a good month to start preparing for hay fever season. The key to avoiding the misery of seasonal allergies is prevention rather than cure.

Allergies result from internal weakness or deficiency, making you less able to cope with pathogens such as pollen, animals, dust mites or certain foods. If you build your internal deficiencies, you are stronger & whatever you are allergic to will have less impact on you & bring fewer symptoms.

A course of acupuncture and/or herbs, starting around 8 weeks before your allergy usually starts, is often very beneficial.

Today, the shortest day of the year, marks both the beginning and the end of the natural cycle. It signals the return of the light.
Winter is associated with the water element and the deepest yin energy. It is the time for calm and, like nature, we withdraw inward to rest and renew.

Meet the team:

Celia Billington, Acupuncturist.

Celia trained at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, qualifying in 2000. Since then she has helped patients with a wide variety of health problems, including women’s health issues, allergies & asthma, chronic disease and pain.

Celia has undertaken further training in acupuncture for fertility and pregnancy with the Zita West Clinic, as well as facial rejuvenation at the International College of Oriental Medicine. She has worked closely with osteopaths treating musculo-skeletal problems such as back and shoulder pain and has run menopause workshops.

Celia is passionate about treating the whole person: mind, body and spirit. Some disease has external causes, some has internal causes (such as grief, worry or unresolved anger); most disease is caused by a combination of both. Acupuncture enables healing on each of these levels.

Within Chinese medicine, there is no “one solution fits all”. Every human is unique and therefore needs treatment tailored individually to them. To complement the acupuncture and to help retain good health beyond treatment, every patient is offered lifestyle and nutritional advice according to their individual needs.
