Hi I’m Barbara, a personal trainer and nutrition coach based in Milngavie. I have two young children and spent many years working in an office. My background is in running (lot of marathons 😅) and triathlons.

I have some spaces available for one-to-one coaching. I work from a private gym in Milngavie so sessions are usually pretty quiet. I can also see people at home.

I can help you with:-
💪 general training to help you feel fitter/lose weight
💪 gaming your training to the next level if you feel you have plateaued
💪 training for a specific event (marathon, triathlon, cycle etc)
💪 keeping active during pregnancy or getting back in shape after
💪 getting started with weights
💪 training with specific health conditions (autoimmune diseases, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, thyroid issues, arthritis, ADHD, joint replacement and others)

I am so proud of a client this morning- she came in tired from a really busy period at work and has a lot going on in her family life too- she could easily have skipped this morning and had a lie in. But she didn’t.

She came in grumpy and left smiling and in a better place. What more could I want for her?

This is just a wee reminder- get up and move! You will feel better for it. 😃

The simple act of moving carries so many benefits with it. The trick is to find something you enjoy and stick with it ☺️Having a goal also helps. If you’re not sure, give me a shout and I’ll help you get started.

I had the pleasure of working with Clare recently just as her maternity leave was coming to an end. I saw her at her home in Knightswood as that suited her best round her family life. I understand how chaotic it can be with a young child. 😅

She absolutely smashed each workout and lifted more than she ever thought she could. 💪 well done Clare 👏🔥

Clinic room to rent.

It’s been really exciting opening the clinic in Milngavie, thanks to everyone who has supported me so far.
My aim when I moved was to create an environment with people passionate about a healthy, active lifestyle. I am keen to work alongside others who would share this vision and be open work as part of a small team to help deliver the best patient care possible, share knowledge and generally create a positive working environment.

Looking to feel a bit fitter and stronger but don’t know where to start? Here is a guide to help you find what is available and which option is best for you:-

Bootcamp/circuit sessions - I like to focus on strength work with some mobility. These are a great introduction to weights and for some of the sessions you can bring your kids so you can at least get out of the house and do something. Just bring some things to keep them entertained for an hour. It’s fun and sociable - you can do the class with your friends. I adapt the exercises where required so you still work. The circuit stays the same for a month so you get to know the exercises and can work on progression. This is also the cheapest option.

The exercises are however a generic set of exercises which may not always tie in with your specific goals. I will try and give you pointers in relation to technique and other general coaching tips as best as I can, but in a busy class I won’t be able to watch you all the time.

Mon 1pm and Wed 11am at Charlie’s Loft

Sun 9.30am at 18 Mugdock Road

1-1 sessions - the sessions are specifically tailored to you and your goals. I am able to watch you throughout your session to make sure your technique is on point and you are also lifting the correct weight. I’ll also give you some things to do at home outside our session. You should therefore see improvement faster than in the class setting and in particular towards your specific goals. This is however a bigger financial investment, but certainly one which would be well worth it if you are new to exercise and in particular weights.

Workout with a friend (or 2) - get a session tailored to your specific goals as above, but the cost is slightly cheaper as you won’t get the whole 1-1 attention.

Whatever you choose to do, the key is in consistency of training and also getting your eating on point as you work towards your goal. DM if you want to know more about any of the sessions or 1-1 coaching. 💪

Want to make your coffee hit more effective?

When we first wake up, our cortisol levels are high. Cortisol is our stress hormone, and one which can improve alertness and focus. Often we want coffee to do just that, but when your body is already trying do that, the effects of caffeine are reduced.

If you really want to get that caffeine hit, give your body an hour for the cortisol to reduce. 👌why not start the day with a hydrating glass of water instead.
