High blood pressure is often called the “silent condition” because it rarely causes noticeable symptoms, but its long-term impact can be significant.

If left unmanaged, it increases the risk of:

• Heart disease
• Stroke
• Kidney disease

For women, blood pressure can be influenced by:

• Hormonal changes across the lifespan
• Pregnancy-related conditions such as pre-eclampsia
• Menopause
• Lifestyle factors including stress, diet, and activity levels

The challenge is that many people feel completely well, and assume everything is fine.
The only way to know your blood pressure is to measure it.

Regular checks, even when you feel healthy, are a simple but important step in protecting long-term cardiovascular health.

Mental health is often spoken about as something stable, something that should feel consistent day to day.

But for many women, emotional wellbeing is cyclical.

Hormonal changes across the menstrual cycle can influence:

• Mood
• Energy levels
• Motivation
• Stress tolerance
• Emotional sensitivity

This means there may be times in the month where you feel more focused, confident, and productive, and others where you feel more reflective, sensitive, or fatigued.

This isn’t a weakness.
It’s physiology.

Tracking your cycle can help you:

• Identify patterns
• Plan more effectively
• Reduce self-criticism
• Work with your body rather than against it

Understanding your rhythm can make your mental health feel more predictable, and more manageable.

I had a discovery call with Dr Niki to discuss my issues and how they could possibly help. Dr Nicki was fantastic and really helped, she really listened and had an holistic approach, this was something i had never had before. I had been really worried about finding a solution as had not felt listened to previously but Dr Nicki discussed options and i felt so much more postive after the call. I’m going to book an appointment soon to start treatment and Im feeling positive , thankyou so much

If you’re short on time but still want to do something for your mental wellbeing, this is a good one.

I listened to a recent podcast episode from Mel Robbins and found myself nodding along more than once.

It’s longer than most, but putting it on 1.5 speed while walking, driving, or doing the school run makes it really manageable.

Not everything has to be a big life change.

Sometimes it’s just about what you’re listening to in the background.

Some women spend years thinking they’re “just tired.”
Or stressed.
Or getting older.

But sometimes, your body is trying to tell you something.

Vaginal dryness doesn’t need to be tolerated, and there are plenty of things we can do, ranging from vaginal oestrogen and moisturises to probiotics and lubricants.

And when you’re busy holding everything together for everyone else, it’s easy to ignore the signs in yourself.

At The Female Health Doctor Clinic, we believe women deserve to feel heard, investigated properly, and supported with personalised care — not brushed off with “everything looks normal.”

Because women’s health isn’t optional. It’s essential. ✨

If motivation feels inconsistent, it may not be willpower, it may be hormones.

ADHD in women is frequently under-recognised, and hormonal changes can make symptoms more noticeable.

Oestrogen plays a role in supporting dopamine activity in the brain.

As oestrogen levels fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle, particularly in the premenstrual phase when levels drop, many women experience:

• Reduced focus and concentration
• Increased overwhelm
• Emotional sensitivity or dysregulation
• Difficulty with organisation or task completion

For women with ADHD, these shifts can feel significant.
For women without a diagnosis, these patterns may go unrecognised or be attributed to stress or personality.

Understanding the link between hormones and brain function allows for a more compassionate and informed approach to managing symptoms.

You are not inconsistent, your biology is dynamic.

If your energy feels low or unpredictable, you’re not failing, your body is communicating.

Hormones, sleep quality, stress, nutrition, and daylight exposure all influence how energised you feel.

Ignoring these signals often leads to burnout. Listening early helps prevent it.

Your body isn’t working against you, it’s asking for support. 💗
