Hello and welcome to a little about me in your search to find the right counsellor. I am a qualified Counsellor and Hypnotherapist working with both adults and young people (12+) in Central Milton Keynes. You may be here for one reason or several, but what ever brings you I will provide a space that is accepting, warm and open for you to decide how much you want to share and when. The counselling path needs to be one that is done at your pace, in a way that is comfortable for you.

I can use a number of different tools to help you work through difficulties such as anxiety, depression, self esteem difficulties, loss and trauma. I have trained in different types of counselling which means I can be flexible to what you need in a way that feels most comfortable to you. I have had additional training in Trauma Informed Therapy, particularly sexual assault where I have worked with both males and females. I also have a special interest in Neurodiversity with lived experience of Autism and ADHD. This means I can tailor your experience to one that is neurodiversity affirming and helps you to get the best from your strengths.

I offer weekly 50 minute sessions (evenings and Saturday mornings available) working in a way that best suits your goals for therapy. If you would like to know more about how we could work together I offer a free 20 minute telephone call.

Do you keep yourself so busy you don’t have time to stop, pause or switch off?

Filling time and making sure there are no gaps in our day can feel like a productive way to manage life. The to do list is so long it makes sense to use every available minute…. Or does it? Filling time and not giving ourselves a much needed break can lead to complete mental, physical and emotion exhaustion. Simply too burnout to be productive.

Taking a moment to protect the gaps though out the day can give your mind and body time to recharge. Even the small gaps will help! Perhaps it’s taking 5 minutes in the morning to look out of the window while you drink your tea, or the half an hour in the evening to watch your favourite soap. What ever your gaps look like building them into your day will help avoid burnout, bringing in more clarity and calm.

People often worry that if they talk to a loved one about su***de they will make things worse. However, approached sensitivity it can help someone feel seen and cared for. By gently encouraging the people we love to talk about any suicidal feelings they can get the right help before it’s too late. PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de provide advice on how to have these conversations.

Talking about su***de not only reduces the stigma but can also help someone struggling to seek help and rethink their options.

It is safer to ask about su***de than to avoid the conversation. Language around su***de does need to be approached sensitively. Asking someone if they’re having suicidal thoughts can give them the space to tell you how they feel and let them know they are not a burden.

Trauma can be thought of as one single, significant event but it can also be caused by multiple events or a single ongoing event over a period of time such as Domestic Abuse. There are many signs of trauma including anger, difficulty sleeping, difficulty concentrating, feeling unsafe, difficulty making decisions, flashbacks and nightmares.

The aim of trauma therapy is to ask the fundamental question of “what happened to you?”. To provide a supportive environment that allows survivors to understand the impact their trauma has had on them emotionally, physically and mentally. To work through it in a way that empowers, takes back control and bring hope for a better future. Difficult emotions such as shame and guilt can make it feel impossible to ask for help.

At Healing Hope Therapy I have experience in working with both male and female clients who have experienced trauma. Please contact me for a free 20 minute consultation to see how I could help. www.healinghopetherapy.co.uk

Can you relate to this post from Missing The Mark?

I am a therapist that understands the uncertainty that comes with living with Neurodiversity. The challenges it presents, not only for those who identify as ND, but for the parents who strive to for better. I recognise the confusion, anxiety and pressure that can be experienced. If you feel you would benefit from support in a counselling environment please contact me with the confidence you will be understood and supported.

When the situation is complex and nuanced we won't have the answers but the expectation to is huge.
I was scared to not know.
So I wore myself out trying to figure it out..
