😊 For those that don't know me - Hi, I’m Julie, the founder of First Light Children’s Wellbeing Activities.

I work with schools, community groups, and families to support children and teens’ wellbeing through yoga, mindfulness, and creative activities.
My sessions are fun and engaging, so they really capture children’s and teens imagination while helping them build confidence, resilience, and tools for calm and focus.

I’m really passionate about giving young people simple, practical wellbeing skills early on — things like breathing techniques, movement, and mindfulness that they can use in everyday life, whether that’s in the classroom or at home.

At First Light, our belief is that every day is a fresh start!

I love connecting with schools, organisations, and people who care about supporting children’s wellbeing, so if that’s something you’re interested in, I’d love to have a chat.šŸ˜

I'm terrible at remembering to take photos for social media!

I'm so wrapped up in my session with the kids, I never think to do it. So I remember after, and take photo of the venue on a sunny day. šŸ˜.

Anyway, today's session for the Leighton Buzzard home educated children was beautiful!

We blasted into space. We regulated ourselves with a careful blend of faster and slower movements. We were mindful with our breathing and holding postures. So much imagination and engagement too.

Here's to next week! šŸŽ‰ Will you join us?

WORLD BOOK DAY!

Oh I do love a Roald Dahl book, and in my opinion this quote can never be beaten!
Oh except maybe Dr Seuss too.

But today I wish you all many good thoughts, and let your sunbeams shine šŸ„°šŸŒžšŸŒžšŸŒž

🌱 Active bodies help create calm minds 🌱

Movement is a powerful tool for children and teens. When young people move their bodies, stretch, and breathe, it helps release tension, regulate the nervous system, and support emotional balance.

Yoga combines gentle movement with breathing and mindfulness, helping young people reconnect with their bodies and find moments of calm in busy or overwhelming days.

Sometimes the path to a calmer mind begins with simply moving the body šŸ’›

Let us know your tips and tricks for getting your youngsters moving! Especially if you have older children, that are more reluctant. 🄰

On a very crazy day in the world, remember to stay present.🄰

Be forever grateful for the present moment. Focus on what you have here and now, even if things seem difficult and overwhelming right now. Maybe the news is just too much to bear, not just worldwide, but events closer to home in Milton Keynes too.

Sending out love, peace and calm to whoever needs to hear or receive it today. I know I do!šŸ¤—šŸ¤—

What an EPIC day! šŸ˜

Starting off with my regular Thursday morning classes before heading straight to Chestnuts to deliver a career talk as part of their aspirations day!
First up were yrs 5/6. I told them all about working for yourself and starting your own business. It was so fun reminiscing about my TV/film career too. I got the children to find costumes for a selection of characters. They were so imaginative!
Next we settled down and did some yoga while letting them know that you can change career and follow your passions.
A quick dash home for lunch/admin before returning for 2 afternoon sessions with years 1-4.

Then off to a different school for Afterschool club. Then Teen yoga this evening.

A fun packed amazing and inspirational day all round!

Tonight’s activity was prepping everything ready for teen yoga and well-being tomorrow evening.

After our yoga session, we’ll be making our affirmation bracelets. šŸ˜.

We’ve spent the last few weeks working on affirmations that ring true to ourselves. And writing them in our journal.

😊 Now we get to make a bracelet that keeps a special word or thought in sight and close at hand.

Let’s create peace and calm through our yoga practice, and create something to help us in everyday life. 🄰

Still thinking about coming? There’s still spaces available.

And the best bit? No cost to you. Thanks to your local county council.

Find out more by sending me a message. šŸ˜

Another fun after school art club making our animal collages!

Can you see the lions and tigers, rabbits and peacocks?

For all ages, ripping paper can serve as a valuable tool for emotional regulation and mindfulness:

Stress Relief: The physical action of tearing can be a kinesthetic outlet for expressing and releasing difficult emotions or built-up energy.

Mindfulness: The sensory experience—focusing on the sound, feel, and visual feedback of the paper tearing—can be a calming and organizing, or mindful, activity.
