Your journey:
What to expect and why:
1. First and foremost, expect realistic results.
Why? Because you've made a commitment to yourself by getting in touch about starting. It takes a lot to do that and you're making an investment into yourself. Like any investment you should expect a return. The key condition is how much effort you're willing to put in. We don't do the work for you, we show you how to do the work correctly and in a structure that works for you. The realistic expectation is not to expect to drop 4 stone in 4 weeks (not something I've had personally btw). Lasting change happens steadily and with consistency, apply this and you'll never lose anywhere in life ๐
2. Enjoy your training
Why? Because that's what this is all about, it's about enjoying and embracing the journey towards positive change. Whether you're a total newbie or someone who's had to switch their training up. If you don't enjoy it you won't get the most out of it. Every session should feel like progress and also be a huge dopamine hit ๐. We like it when you leave smiling ear to ear, trust me ๐
3. Build a good relationship with your coach/trainer
Why? Because building a good relationship enhances the experience, it instills a level of trust that helps each workout feel more and more like a fun school day; learning, lifting and loving the process of change. It binds with the above point of enjoying your training very strongly. You won't always walk in feeling your best, but having a session with a coach you get on with and trust - will definitely have you leaving feeling completely lifted ๐คธ
4. Tough questions, and tougher self admissions
Okay, this one is the toughest to read and also write about.
This runs off point 2 & 3, this is why it's important to be able to trust your trainer/coach.
We all have bad habits, it's human. None of us are perfect and that's okay. However, what we learn about ourselves & what we do with what we know about ourselves is important for growth. It can go either way is the truth.
I'm going to use food relationship as an example here:
Bar a few chronic and genetic conditions, we put too much weight on/not enough weight on through poor habits and poor relationships with food. I say this without judgement as I was once 21 stone.
Do we want to admit to ourselves that it's our fault as it's something fully within our control? No not really, but we also don't want to accept that we have to be overweight or underweight for the rest of our life. It's our natural instincts to want to be healthy, the reality is given the chance we would all choose to look and feel good over staying the same, any day of the week.
I have to ask the tough questions, and also get my clients to ask themselves the toughest questions:
Food
Alcohol
Substances
Sleep
Family
Finances
Medication
Mental health
These are just some factors that have prevented people from changing. If you come to me for help, we will be going there. Not to judge, but to create the catalyst for change.
Admission is the start point
Ownership comes next
Then comes the relief of the mental weight being lifted
That's when we build a solid plan
Then we do whatever it takes to execute your plan to see you reach your full potential
The results?
They come free flowing ๐๐
My clients all say the same thing, training feels like therapy.
They're not wrong, this is more than exercise.
It's fixing months or even years of bad habits that have ultimately held you back.
You are important enough to yourself to want the best for yourself.
