On Saturday Adam and Corinne were guests of the Springwood Sun Club, West Bergholt where they were officially presented with a very generous donation of £412.88 raised by the community-based group throughout 2025.

The Springwood Sun Club chose our group as their charity of the year for 2025 after we attended the club and taught them basic life support as part of the EEAST Heart scheme.

During the day, a talk was given on what a Community First Responder is, they type of calls they are likely to attend, and how donations are spent on equipment. A CPR demonstration was given and there was even time for some tea and cake.

Team Leader for the Nayland Community First Responders said, “As a charity, we are entirely reliant on donations like this to keep or group running. By raising this money for us the Springwood Sun Club have helped save lives in their community. We are very grateful to every member of this caring local organisation.

Our new CPR manakins and training defibrillators got their first outing today.

These were purchased with the grant awarded to our charity by the Bures Music Festival and have replaced our aging equipment.

The smart manakins are able to provide real time feedback on the quality of CPR being provided by students, helping us give even more specific feedback.

Such an amazing music festival, now potentially helping to save lives!

We are in the process of issuing all our volunteers with name badges from the campaign.

When we meet you we always introduce ourselves by our name, but we understand that we may be with you in times of discomfort, and remembering our names may be difficult.

It also allows us to be easily identified by any following ambulance resources who may attend with us.

The campaign founder explains the purpose of the badges beautifully,

"I firmly believe it is not just about common courtesy, but it runs much deeper. Introductions are about making a human connection between one human being who is suffering and vulnerable, and another human being who wishes to help. They begin therapeutic relationships and can instantly build trust in difficult circumstances."
