Woodside welcomes another month!
This year seems to be flying right on by..
The Theme for August is 'Summertime' and that only means one thing, activities that begin with the letter 'S'!
Sunshine, sun glasses, sand, sea and sunflowers, just to name a few😁

Woodside provides daily opportunities for everyone to get involved with new and old activities.
Even if one might say 'I can't do that', they are gently encouraged to have a try.
There will be others that prefer to watch. 'Watching' is also classed as an activity.
As well as trying out the activity, there are opportunities to have a chit chat, share memories, talk about the weather, sing a few songs and have a generally have a laugh.
Woodside's daily activity schedule provides an abundance of opportunities to learn new things whilst enjoying each other's company.
The opportunities are endless.
Each day, is a new day, to learn something new😁

Woodside thoroughly enjoys visiting Baglan RFC Wednesday wellness club!
This is something that is looked forward to every week.
The meeting of people in the communiy.
The enjoyment of drinking a cup of coffee and sampling different biscuits and cakes.
Most of all, it's the excitement of playing BIngo!
Woodside can announce that it had a little win!
It was only a box of maltesers, nonetheless, it was a win😁
Here's to next week's session and maybe a few more lucky wins🥰

Engaging with the community goes beyond just providing outings. It helps one feel valued and connected, reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness.
The relationships formed with local community members and businesses enrich one's life and foster a sense of belonging.

Delicious chip shop fish and chips is something to forward to in our Monday visit to Baglan Community Church social morning.
As well as meeting lots of people, that Woodside knows, they hold crafts, knitting and all different types of activities. A very talented bunch of people!

Woodside knows that the 'C' word is 5 months away.
Activity sessions are already underway to create beautiful items to sell at Christmas Fetes.
Woodside has started making rag wreaths, in Christmas colours.
However, material is needed to make them.
Therefore, Woodside would like to make an appeal for donations of:
Material/clothes/scarves/blankets/curtains and quilts.
These can be cut up to help create more gifts that will be sold to raise resident's funds.
If you do have any items then please give to a member of staff.
Woodside would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support.

Woodside's garden has been bursting into bloom!
The Gladioli have been cut. They stand with pride in vases on our dining tables.
The flowers are too nice to be left in the garden.
Woodside likes to bring the outside world, inside, at every opportunity.
Even the bugs, that were held within the petals, were welcomed🐞🪲😆

Woodside spent a very special afternoon to celebrate the pregnancy of one of it's staff members.
For the last 7 months everyone has been eagerly watching 'the bump' get bigger.
Finally it was time for Woodside to host the Baby Shower.
The room was tastefully decorated with banners, balloon arch and a line holding baby clothes and pictures of babies.
The mum to be wore a beautiful, taupe, jewelled dress. She was accompanied by her husband and two cute children.
The table was decorated in a pastel pink, blue and mauve tablecloth.
The table held a beautiful, home made, pink cake. The cake was decorated with white flowers, baby booties and prams. There were also cup cakes, decorated with pink buttercream and tiny shoes.
There were presents of a gift basket and flowers for the mum to be.
Our Wellbeing Co-ordinator, Lesley Faccini, created a nappy cake with colourful ribbons, flowers and pearls. Sat ontop was a fluffy white sheep.
The party was started off by playing a selection of games. Baby Bingo, who's that baby and songs with baby in the title, they were fun to play!
When the games were over, the cake was cut and it tasted scrumptious. Inside were 5 layers of a light and fluffy jam and cream sponge. The cup cakes were equally as delicious.
The children chatted to everyone and it was great for Woodside to experience some intergenerational time.
Woodside would like to say a special 'thank you' to one of our family members for providing the lovely cakes and decorations.
It was truly appreciated.
Woodside wishes mum to be all the best on the birth of her baby and also looks forward to a future visit to show off her new born daughter.

Woodside is always up for expanding one's brain..
A recent activity session comprised of lessons in geography and history.
The topic of conversations were 'UK Castles' and 'Lighthouses'.
These type of activities triggers one's memories on visits to places in one's younger years. Again, it's also classed as reminiscent therapy.
It was a very interesting activity and extremely rewarding for all🥰

There is only the one, thrilling, thing...
It managed to achieve not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but the grand total of 5 Bingo wins whilst visiting it's Wellness Wednesday Club!
Woodside could not stop shouting 'HOUSE' and it felt really good😁
Woodside returned home with 2 scented candles, a box of Quality Street, a tin of biscuits and a Spa Secrets Kit.
Now that's what is called a 'magic morning' in more ways than one😆

Woodside is preparing for an extra special party!
One of our staff members is with child!
Woodside has been excitingly watching her bump grow over the last 7 months.
Now it is time to hold an extra special party for the two of them - a baby shower!
It will be held on Monday 21st July at 2pm.
There will be a meet and greet, games, music, followed by an afternoon tea.
This is an open invitation to join Woodside for this special occassion.
Woodside is one big, happy community.
It is a joyous occassion to bring a new baby into this world and Woodside would like to celebrate it in style!

Woodside has enjoyed 'an afternoon in the Opera'!
The Three Tenors sang a selection of their songs to a captivated audience.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house!
Music is very powerful and can bring out different emotions.
It was one, extremely rewarding activity, in many ways😃
