Mobilise & Stretch class

Mobilise & Stretch class A safe and gently dynamic exercise class that focuses on joint and spine mobility and muscle flexibi

I have been a practicing Osteopath since 2005 and have been giving my patients various exercises to do between treatments to aid their recovery and progress. This has always been a particularly enjoyable part of my role as an Osteopath, seeing patients get the results they deserve when they spend time on themselves. For many of us our lifestyles have become very sedentary and imbalanced, often bei

ng in the same position for prolonged periods of time and getting into bad postural habits, which I believe is part of the reason for a lot of our aches and pains. There is currently a drive from both the medical profession and government to 'get people more active, moving' which I am in full support of. Quite a number of us are good at doing our cardio, weights or other physical activities, but less so at maintaining mobility through our joints and healthy length through our muscles. I aim to provide support and guidance in this area through my 1 hour class, which will take you through various spine and joint mobilising exercises, followed by some gentle but effective muscle stretching to leave you feeling both energised and relaxed, as well as more flexible!

Hi everyone

Just sharing this in case it might be of interest to any of you or someone you know ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜˜

Lifestyle Coaching

I am looking to set up a group next year in the Stowmarket area for those wanting/needing to make lifestyle changes to improve their physical and mental health.

It will be a health coaching based support group, and I hope to have a strong interactive element with peers encouraging each other and sharing experiences, whilst I facilitate and offer my knowledge and suggestions.
What it wonโ€™t be is a โ€˜classโ€™ where I bombard you with medical facts and tell you exactly what to eat/do. You will not be weighed or measured.

I also wonโ€™t have any involvement with the medication side of things, butโ€ฆ.with significant lifestyle changes, it is often possible to be able to come off some/all medications - obviously under the supervision of your medical practitioner. Diabetes and heart conditions can be significantly improved through lifestyle changes.

The ares we will cover will be nutrition, physical activity, reducing or stopping alcohol/smoking, stress reduction, sleep management and social connections/reducing loneliness.
The emphasis around diet will be making small, healthy improvements to your eating and some of the psychology behind your current eating habits.

My intentions are to give you up to date evidence based information around what will help support your health ,and that group members form friendships or simply feel that they are not alone in the great landscape of lifestyle change, which can be daunting when trying to go it alone.

I do not offer or believe in gimmicks and changing your lifestyle takes effort and commitment, but Iโ€™m truly hoping that a support group such as this will make it that bit easier and more enjoyable.

Bit of background on meโ€ฆ.
I have been a registered osteopath for 18 years, I have a diploma in Lifestyle Medicine with the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. A hold a Weight Loss Specialist certificate with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and a level 5 diploma in Nutrition with Diet Specialist.
For the past 14 months, alongside treating patients and teaching an exercise class, I have worked as a smoking cessation practitioner, having achieved level 1 and 2 certificates with the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training.

Iโ€™m looking to have 8-10 in a group and run the session for 90 minutes, either daytime or 1 evening, dependant on demand/venue availability.
As this is a private venture there will be a cost of around ยฃ15 per session.

I do offer one to one lifestyle coaching for those that are not keen on a group setting, but a group is a more affordable and socially supportive way of getting help with lifestyle changes.

My mission is to facilitate changes that increase and support health, longevity and independence, and ultimately reduce the need for medical intervention.

If this interests you or anyone you know, or you would like to know more, do call me on 01449 678250 or 07789935190. Alternatively, send me a message.

Thanks for reading,
Louise

At Mobilise & Stretch we have a designated time within the class to work on our balance skills, involving a good amount of standing on 1 leg (if you are comfortable with that).
Otherwise, putting minimal pressure through the second foot to still activate your balance is an easier option for those that need it.

How challenging your balance could build you a confident core and maybe even a longer life
