As we approach the busiest time of the year for the pharmacy team, please help us to help you by only attending the pharmacy for medication when you have received a text message to confirm that your prescription is ready for collection.

Text messages are being sent multiple times each day and staff are working beyond the shop opening hours to accommodate the significant increase in prescription demand.

We are currently turning all repeat prescriptions around within the 7 day time frame.

Pharmacies across the UK are considering reducing services or even striking due to ongoing funding issues.

-Funding Issues:
Since 2016, our funding model hasn't kept pace with a 20% inflation rise.

- Financial Loss:
Many pharmacies dispense medications at a loss due to NHS price concessions and reimbursement rates. Eg Last month Apixaban (prevents blood clots) cost approximately £ 11.69 - our reimbursement £1.72

- Funding Cuts:
Real-term funding cuts of around 40% have made maintaining services difficult.

- Increased Workload:
We have processed an additional 14,061 items since 2019, with an estimated 190,000 items dispensed in 2024.

Clearly the current environment is not sustainable.
