Forget Me Notts is a dementia friendly support group based in Tuxford at the Beeches Community Centre.
Group members are met with a hot drink at the start as people with dementia tend to forget to stay hydrated. They are supplied with 2 course meal that is home cooked with games of bingo every week.
They then engage in the afternoon activity that can involve reef making and dominoes but today there is a singer/ DJ encouraging the group members to join in to have a dance and talk to others.
Our Digital & Social Inclusion Coordinator visited this amazing group to leave information and step by step instruction guides about the NHS App and how they can access their health records, order prescriptions and book appointments from the click of a button.
Forget Me Notts runs between 12noon and 3pm every Tuesday at The Beeches Community Centre.

National Bereaved Parents Day

National Bereaved Parents Day was set up in 2020 by the charity A Child of Mine, with the aim of uniting parents that have been affected by the death of a child to show bereaved parents that they are not alone. This will allow us all to acknowledge, support and help those affected through conversations.
This year’s theme is “Love Lives On”.
To join in please light a candle at 7pm to remember all of those children and babies that have gone too soon and remember the parents and families going through this tragic time.

July 1st - July 7th is Alcohol Awareness Week

Alcohol Awareness Week 2024 raises awareness about the risks associated with alcohol consumption, promoting healthier lifestyle choices, and providing support for those struggling with alcohol-related issues. This annual campaign highlights the physical, mental, and social impacts of alcohol misuse and encourages communities to engage in discussions and activities that foster awareness and support.
How to Get Involved
• Host Awareness Events: Organize educational events or seminars that highlight the risks of excessive alcohol consumption and promote healthier choices.
• Support Local Campaigns: Participate in or volunteer for local awareness campaigns or support groups that provide information and resources about alcohol misuse.
• Share Your Story: Use social media to share personal stories or statistics about the impact of alcohol misuse, encouraging open discussion and support.
• Promote Alcohol-Free Activities: Organize or join events that promote fun without alcohol, such as sports, arts and crafts, or community service projects.
• Distribute Educational Materials: Share brochures, posters, and fact sheets about the effects of alcohol and where to find help and support.
• Encourage Self-Reflection: Promote self-assessment tools that help individuals evaluate their drinking habits and seek support if needed.
