💚This time of year can sometimes be overwhelming, remember to be the best version of yourself, you need to look after yourself. If things are getting too much don't try and battle through alone, talk to someone you trust or reach out to one of these services. There will always be someone to listen.

🍁Autumn is a great time to cosy up with a book. If you enjoy reading or it's something that you used to enjoy, why not rediscover your passion?

📚If you struggle with concentration, choose something light and easy to read, maybe a book you've read before and liked. Start slow, just read whatever feels comfortable, a paragraph or a page at a time is fine.

🍁Choose uplifting, inspirational or funny stories to lift your mood. Children's books are great for adults too, as are books about travelling and nature.

⭐️Shorter days provide a great opportunity for stargazing, just look up! Try to find an evening where there is not too much cloud cover. Put on a warm coat and go outside. Which constellations can you recognise? You could try an astronomy app on your phone, like Stellarium or Star Walk - or simply take in the wonder that is above us.

✨There is so much to look at and enjoy that takes us out of our own heads and into the real world. Simply take in the wonder of what you can see, the same way our ancient ancestors did thousands of years ago. Sometimes the marvel of the natural will take your breath away!

🍂Taking time to notice is something we love at Recovery In Mind. Go for a walk and notice changing colours this time of year. This could be in your own garden, a park, open garden, or simply around the local area. You can do this on your own or its a great activity to do with someone else.

🍂Autumn is a time of change, which brings opportunities to take notice of the vibrant colours and the beauty that surrounds us. The last leaves cling to the trees and flutter and flap in the growing winds. The air is cold and fresh in your lungs, your breath misty.

🍂Reflect on this year's spring and summer. What did you enjoy most ? Which was your favourite month and why? Did you do anything new this year? You could write down your thoughts, or just spend some quiet time thinking about it.

🍁The cosy season is here. Autumn is a perfect time to notice the changing colours of the season, colours are deep and vibrant. As the nights draw in we can still make time to be outside, connect with our friends and family and plan rewarding activities.

🍁The darker evenings give us the opportunity to stargaze and take in amazing nighttime views.

🍂What can you hear this time of year and what smells do you notice? Why not take some pictures of the seasons change, meet a friend for a walk or kick through the autumn whether it's quirky fungi, golden leaves or apple-laden trees. leaves, enjoy the sound and sight as your feet woosh through piles of leaves 🍂.

🍂Autumn term courses at Recovery In Mind | The new term and academic year have got off to a great start after the summer break.

💚For our students who've completed our Welcome To Recovery course we have some great courses this term. Including:

💚Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). This four-session course is broken down with weekly themes that encourage us to think about what we can focus on to stay well, what we can try when things get difficult, the triggers that might cause them and how to build and utilise a Wellness Toolbox.

📝Journalling - a new two week workshop will explore ideas of how to start and maintain a journal as a tool for recovery and wellbeing. In the first session we will look at the benefits and different forms it can take so that you can get started and in the second session, we review how this process has gone.

Today marks the autumn equinox! It's been creeping in for weeks, but now the cosy season is finally here.

We'd love to hear the signs of autumn you're most looking forward to - whether it's quirky fungi, golden leaves or apple-laden trees.

💚"I've suffered a great many catastrophes in my life. Most of them never happened." Mark Twain.

💚Everyone of us has imagined the worst-case scenario at one point or another, which never happened. For those of us who live alongside mental health challenges worst-case scenarios and catastrophisation can go into overdrive!

💚But we can learn that we don't need to limit ourselves and needlessly suffer, we don't need to be constantly playing that disaster movie in our heads instead of living fullfilling lives and setting goals.

💚Once we acknowledge this mental doom scrolling for what it really is, just thoughts appearing in our imagination, that are not at all real we can learn to detach and separate ourselves from it, put space between worry and refocus on the external world on the things that matter and the things we we want to achieve.

💚The disaster movies can continue to play, but we don't need to watch or give them attention, with practise, when we put life in the foreground the mental catastrophisation begins to fade into the background.

💚Today at Reccovery In Mind we have been discussing the importance of hope. Often situations don’t always turn out as we would like. Yet hope can be one of the most powerful perspectives for healing and recovery.

💚Hope can help us when we are struggling to find meaning, purpose, and motivation in our lives. It can help us to persevere through difficult times and overcome the challenges they face.

💚When we apply hope to our mental health issues, we often see improved treatment outcomes and reduction of symptoms.
