It may be tough to slow things down but being able to see things as they are & not for what our busy brains have dressed them up to be might be a learn we can all take from our experience?

We are NOT asking kids to put further demands on themselves to keep pace with neurotypical peers.

In their lane, at their pace, uncovering their strengths & learning how to advocate for themselves.

😟 ADHD & Emotional Flooding 😮‍💨 when the effort out far outweighs the joy we see neurodivergent children flooded & emotional dysregulation follows.

To avoid showing that the cup is overflowing in school environments we see meltdowns &/or withdrawn behaviour at home. This is why it is so key to share with school what happens when a child gets home. The harder they try to keep up in that environment the more we see distressed & overwhelmed kids at home.

Validate your childs big emotions.
Ask if you can come to school with ideas you form together to take some pressure off.
Remind them there is always a way through if we work it out together.
Advocate hard to put the accomadations & adjustments in.

🫶 ADHD & Anxiety can travel together 🫶 which is why it is so important to understand their relationship & untangle one from another?

We are see far too much anxiety in kids very sadly & this will often look like the traits of ADHD. Anxiety is also often underpinning ADHD - it was for me in childhood, so you see how confusing it begins to look? 🫣. This is why choosing the right clinician to support assessment & diagnosis is so key for kids best outcomes. It is also why putting anxiety first with therapeutic support is so important, highlighted this week by

❤️‍🔥 Young ADHD men & expectation ❤️‍🔥 the weight of it in the vunerable transition to adulthood can be overwhelming. They suffer in silence to appear strong ❤️‍🩹.

As a coach I am not allowed favourites but to hold space for these ADHDers as a mentor is a special honour. Their sensitivity is their greatest gift & they have it within themselves to fly high.
