What a fantastic day! Our Experience Day customers and a few of our lovely residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to the bowling green for a friendly game of bowls. 😊

There were plenty of smiles, a few impressive shots, and lots of laughter shared all around. It’s always a joy to see everyone getting involved, enjoying the fresh air, and making lovely memories together. 💚

🌼💐 Florist takeover alert! 💐🌼

Flower arranging was in full bloom today, and let’s just say… we may have uncovered a few secret florists among us! 🌸✂️ From wonky stems to floral masterpieces, everyone had a bloomin’ good time.

There was laughter, creativity, and maybe a little too much enthusiasm with the floral foam. But hey, who knew arranging flowers could be such a workout? 😅

Siobhan received a beautiful card, some lovely flowers, and a bottle of wine from the Brampton household as a thank you for all of her support over the weekend. What a thoughtful gesture and so well deserved!

Some happy news to end the week: the story of our lovely customer Francis and his determination to walk daughter Lizzie down the aisle by learning to walk again. 💒💍

Support workers on the father of the bride's household devised a plan with the village's exercise and rehabilitation department to help him achieve his goal. The outcome? He smashed it! 💪

We are thrilled for Francis and it is helping to make special moments like these happen is what Belong really is all about.

"My mum reached the point of being unable to cope at home despite our efforts as a family to provide support, she required 24 hour support. As soon as we visited Belong it felt right, the atmosphere is of a home not an institution. The team at Belong were amazing making the admission process swift and seamless. Mum has now spent 6 months in Belong and she has settled in far better than we were hoping. The care staff on her household are fantastic ensuring mum receives the assistance required in an environment that is friendly and inclusive. Mum has started to refer to Belong as home, something we never expected given her initial reluctance to accept she needed to move into residential care. Mum is now looking much healthier than before she moved in and her mobility has improved thanks to the physio work put in by the Belong team. I cannot recommend Belong enough, absolutely first class support and most important they really do care!"

Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme

Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme opened its doors on 9th April, providing 24-hour nursing and dementia care facilities for 72 residents in six households and 28 apartments for independent living, along with a range of community facilities. It boasts an extensive village centre, including bistro, exercise studio and therapy room and also a unique Heritage Gallery housed in the historic Grade II listed building that has been distinguished throughout the years as Samuel Bell's Pottery, The Old Pomona Inn and most recently the iconic Maxims nightclub, which closed in 2006. Thanks to National Lottery players, the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded a £1.8 million grant to transform the once derelict building into the Belong Heritage Gallery. The gallery is integrated within the village centre and aims to link the past and present through shared memories, experiences and reminiscence. It will form the base for Belong's Experience Days service, specialist day care for older people, and aims to become a dementia centre of excellence. Featuring Samuel Bell's tea room, a recreated Old Pomona Inn with licensed bar, a reminiscence room, craft and activities room and hair salon with nail bar, the gallery offers a range of activities and opportunities for people to engage with local heritage.
