The Mayor of Newcastle-under Lyme 2023-24

On Sunday 13 November the Mayor, Cllr. Gill Burnett, will lead Newcastle’s Remembrance Parade and will lay a wreath on behalf of the Council at Red Lion Square memorial.

Borough councillors and other civic guests will also attend along with representatives from the armed forces. Residents can join the parade or line the route and assemble around the cenotaph.

The parade will leave Castle House at 9.40am for the church service at St. Giles (10am-10.50am approximately).

The Mayor and other attendees will then gather at the cenotaph for a minute’s silence and the laying of the wreath at 11am.

The parade will then return to Castle House to disband.

Earlier this week the Mayor, Gill Burnett, joined residents and local schoolchildren at Belong, Newcastle-under-Lyme, for a circus skills class to celebrate the launch of their new circus exhibition.

Much fun was had by all! 😁

The exhibition is now open to everyone and displays circus and illusionist memorabilia from around the world - including Harry Houdini's handcuffs!

Tomorrow, the Mayoress and I will be attending a Civic Thanksgiving Service at the Hindu Temple, Bold Street, Northwood, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs ST1 6PD.

I have to say, we're both really looking forward to it.

This Sunday, millions of people will commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

I'm leading the annual church service and parade in Newcastle-under-Lyme and it would be great if residents could join me ❤️

📣 I'd shaw like to fish a hap-pea 100th birthday to one of the best traditional chippies around 🎂 🎈 🎉

Earlier today I popped down to Shaw's chip shop to help the owners and staff celebrate 100 years of trading in Newcastle town centre.

A century of trading is a massive achievement 👏

This fantastic plaice holds happy memories for many residents, shoppers and visitors. What are yours? ❤️ 🐟

I'm visiting various plaices this weekend 🐟 🥔

Tomorrow I'm looking forward to helping a popular takeaway and restaurant to celebrate 100 years of trading in Newcastle town centre 😲 🎂 🎉

On Sunday it's the Civic Sunday at St. Giles' Church followed by my fireworks/funfair event at the Lyme Valley which is raising money for my chosen charities, the Tri Services and Veterans Support Centre. Registered charity 1159599 in Newcastle and the Royal British Legion ⛪️ 🧨 🎠

Last week the Royal Stoke University Hospital was given the Freedom of the Borough in a short ceremony at Keele University.

Chief Executive Tracy Bullock received the official certificate on behalf of all the staff at the hospital for “...all their selfless work, dedication and care given to borough residents and beyond, during the Coronavirus pandemic.”

Borough resident Jim Worgan also received the honour in recognition of his life-long support of many community groups and associations in the borough.
