Friday turned into a bit of a boys’ club when both female coaches couldn’t make it… much to the excitement of our trainee coaches 😄
But here’s the thing — what I ask them to demonstrate and coach isn’t easy. Anyone who trains at the The BARN will tell you that.
A big focus for us is contralateral movement — training opposite sides of the body to coordinate and move simultaneously. Right arm with left leg. Left arm with right leg. Sounds simple… until you actually have to control it and keep it fluid.
These cross-body patterns are huge for maintaining a natural walking gait. They support:
• Smooth arm swing
• Pelvic rotation
• Single-leg balance
• Efficient weight transfer
In other words — they help keep your walking pattern fluid. And that’s something we definitely want to preserve as we age.
It’s not just “training.” It’s building coordination, resilience, and movement quality that carries into everyday life and all sports!
