As the Spring Equinox arrives we find ourselves in a moment of perfect balance; where the days are of equal light and dark, bringing with it a gentle reminder that growth begins with intention.

As we sow seeds of intention this Spring (the true beginning of the year) imagine where you want to be by Autumn; a time for slowing down, reflecting and returning to yourself.

☔️ Everyone seems to be saying the same thing lately- they need something to look forward to.

🗓️ Staying present is important but that can be hard in these wet and grey months. Having something to look forward to can make all the difference.

🧘🏻‍♀️ It’s hard to prioritise your wellbeing, the guilt can feel overwhelming. But we all know the saying “you can’t pour from an empty cup”. Self care isn’t a luxury it’s a necessity and, in my experience, those around us benefit as much as we do from taking some time for us.

✔️ September is a while away yet but imagine having something in the diary to look forward to after the summer holidays.

Imbolc marks the return of light and even while winter is still present, the early signs of new life are all around us.

In yoga, Imbolc is the perfect time to gently awaken your practice with slow, mindful movement, breathwork, and intention setting.

This week in class we will focus on heart and chest openers, subtle backbends, and grounding poses that support patience and clarity.

Just as seeds begin to stir beneath frozen ground, Imbolc reminds us that growth often starts quietly. Yoga during this season invites reflection, renewal, and trust in what is slowly unfolding.

Obviously the reality is this space will be covered in toys and there will be 2 very noisy little boys patrolling the house 😅 Nonetheless I will be seeking out moments like these in amongst the madness.

Prepare together 🤍

Pregnancy is a time of transition—physically, emotionally and relationally. This nurturing prenatal yoga workshop is designed to support both the pregnant person and their birthing partner as they prepare for birth and early parenting.

Through gentle, pregnancy-safe, yoga, breath-work, mindfulness and hands-on partner techniques, you’ll learn practical tools to find support and comfort and encourage relaxation and connection throughout pregnancy and labour. No prior yoga experience is needed.

This workshop emphasises choice, trust and adaptability—honouring that every body and every birth is unique.

Not everyone has time to attend a weekly pregnancy yoga class. These sessions will give you the tools to be able to practice yoga safely throughout your pregnancy and beyond.

You’ll learn:

· Safe, supportive yoga poses for pregnancy and tips for the postnatal period

· Breathing techniques for relaxation, labour and stress management

· Partner support skills, including massage and guidance cues during labour

· Mindfulness practices to reduce fear and build confidence

Who it’s for:

Parents-to-be at any stage of pregnancy and their chosen support person (partner, friend, or family member).

What to expect:

A calm, welcoming environment with plenty of options and rest. Come as you are—this is a space for learning, practicing and connecting and a great way to meet other parents-to-be.

The workshop is suitable from 14- weeks right up until the last week of pregnancy and is for all levels of ability- beginners are welcome. Mats and props can be provided.

The workshop is located at Newton & Bywell Community Hall (NE43 7UL) and runs from 10-12:30 on 22/03

January isn’t a time to be setting yourself new challenges. It’s dark and cold and quiet. So don’t resist the urge to stay in front of the fire, that’s your innate cyclical nature speaking. I’m not saying don’t go outside until spring! But maybe put off those new experiences, that deep down you don’t want to do right now, until spring when energy is higher and light is returning 🔥

Through Autumn and Winter every Mondays 5.45 - 6.45pm you can join us weekly for a whole hour of peaceful guided rest and relaxation.

These sessions include yoga Nidra, Guided meditation and Mantra meditation. We have mats and blankets and cushions at Shanti Bee but feel free to bring anything that helps you feel comfortable.

Sessions are designed to promote healing and counteract the stress hormones in our bodies.

No experience necessary for any of these sessions, come as you are.
