Cristal Yoga

Cristal Yoga British Wheel Foundation Course Tutor. Yoga Therapist in-training. Newcastle upon Tyne

Cristal Yoga aims to give you headspace and peace of mind by taking a traditional approach to yoga from a contemporary perspective in-order to find balance and harmony within yourself amongst the demands of modern living. By merging the benefits of yoga with attainable solutions to stress and tension, Cristal Yoga can help you find a sense of stability and ease in body, mind and spirit. In a Cristal Yoga class you won’t be given a rigid set of instructions to follow, you will be encouraged to explore what’s happening internally to find out what’s manifesting itself externally. Cristal Yoga classes inspire you to follow and complement the natural rhythms of your body.

January isn’t a time to be setting yourself new challenges. It’s dark and cold and quiet. So don’t resist the urge to stay in front of the fire, that’s your innate cyclical nature speaking. I’m not saying don’t go outside until spring! But maybe put off those new experiences, that deep down you don’t want to do right now, until spring when energy is higher and light is returning 🔥

Through Autumn and Winter every Mondays 5.45 - 6.45pm you can join us weekly for a whole hour of peaceful guided rest and relaxation.

These sessions include yoga Nidra, Guided meditation and Mantra meditation. We have mats and blankets and cushions at Shanti Bee but feel free to bring anything that helps you feel comfortable.

Sessions are designed to promote healing and counteract the stress hormones in our bodies.

No experience necessary for any of these sessions, come as you are.

The transition from Summer to Autumn can be a challenge for many of us, especially when the weather has been so glorious.

Being true to our cyclical nature means that, after a Summer of light, growth and energy our bodies are ready to retreat over the Autumn and Winter months in-order for the cycle to begin again in Spring. That might not sound appealing if you’re someone who loves the sun-filled days and light nights, but there is much beauty in the darker months to enjoy.

I love the saying, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing.” Layering up and getting outside to notice the magnificence of nature can help us to make peace with the colder weather.

We can take our cues from Mother Nature noticing how the lushness of the foliage recedes to put its energy into its roots in-order to flourish again when resources have been replenished.

If you feel like you need some support with getting through the winter months or there is something else you would like to explore, why not consider Yoga Therapy. I am currently offering donation-based sessions until the end of the year when I finish my training. If you’re curious about Yoga Therapy get in touch for a no obligation chat to see what it’s all about.

Not all Yoga Props are made the same…
Since I started incorporating weights and working with trigger points in my yoga practice I feel like I’m stronger and… drum roll please 🥁 more flexible than ever!

Yoga is constantly evolving (thank goodness) and your practice should evolve too. If you’re doing the same routine you were doing last year your yoga isn’t serving you as it could.

Tuning in to what your body needs is like a private prescription (let’s say from a homeopathist 😅) to give you what you need right now.

Practicing yoga in a way that meets your needs not only enriches you physically but also filters into your everyday to help you to be more like the person you want to be.

The foundation course enables you to practice yoga at home teaching you how to compose mini-sessions for yourself where eventually you will just get on your mat and instinctually know what you need and what you don’t. For more information on my next course starting in September visit the link in my bio.

I adore this elder in my garden. It brings me so much joy through the seasons. Regardless of the weather it blooms consistently every summer and produces the most vibrant berries every autumn then quietly sheds its leaves to retreat for winter.

Nature reminds me to be consistent. There may be the occasional storm (last night’s 🍓 moon energy anyone?!) but showing up and flourishing, and retreating when my body needs it keep me in sync with my natural rhythms and allow me to thrive. Yoga helps us to tune in to our nervous system and understand where we are and what we need in the moment in-order to blossom.

See you on the mat at 7:15 at the Fairways Centre
And yes that’s our little pub “The Elderberry Arms” 😅

Individuality

As children we often experience negativity for being different and as a result any uniqueness we possess is often driven out of us due to our desire to fit in. Even as adults we are inclined to keep our quirks to ourselves.

I love seeing people’s eccentricities and it reminds me to embrace my own as the more we can be our authentic selves the happier we become.

In yoga tonight we are embracing individuality. Yoga isn’t a one-size fits all approach and if you can find your own individual style you become more in-tune with what your mind, body and spirit need at any given moment, even when you’re not on the mat.

Join us tonight at 7:15pm at Fairways Centre
