Love languages are the ways in which we show love or care to others, or they show to us that may not be immediately obvious.
What do you notice about how you show or are shown love by the people you care about?

This little brook is on my daily dog walk. In the wet weather it gets very muddy and I always choose to jump over it. Over the years people have added their solutions to get over it, a path has been trodden on the other side, tree stumps, a fallen log and most recently a board. It made me think of how we can each come across the same problem and face it in different ways. No one way is right they’re just different.

I took this photo on a walk, capturing the final sunset of my summer 2025. I took a moment to reflect on how my summer has been, my expectations and the reality. I also considered the impact of current social media trends and the focus this puts on sharing only the “good bits”

Self care is important.

Hobbies can be a way to look after yourself and do something that is restorative for you.

Personally I find hobbies a challenge, I am
not great at choosing a thing and sticking to it, I want everything to be perfect which can take away the enjoyment, and I can get caught in the “I don’t have time” narrative even though I “have time” to scroll mindless internet videos 🙈

I decided in January to embark on a year of hobbies and see what difference it made to how I feel.

Each month I choose one hobby for that month, to do as much or as little as I feel like and at the end of the month I switch to my next one.

This takes away all of the reasons why I can’t do hobbies as part of self care. 9 months in and I am thoroughly enjoying this new found freedom in relation to how I hobby.

So far crochet, birdwatching and watercolours are the favourite things I’ve tried and I can definitely say I don’t like weaving…

This is the laptop cover I made. It’s not perfect but that’s ok. 🙂
