Had such a lovely visit to Patch and Purr Vets in Clavering today, a gorgeous new independent practice with a real sense of care at its heart.

What made it even more special was seeing Chloe, one of our former students from Dick White Academy, now thriving as their Lead Nurse 💚

There’s something truly wonderful about seeing the next generation of vet nurses growing into roles where they make such a difference, with kindness, confidence, and calm.

So proud of you, Chloe, and wishing the whole team at Patch and Purr every success 🐾✨

Coastal Veterinary Group – what a fantastic team! 💚

It was such a joy to catch up with Amy and Rachel, both of whom I had the pleasure of training during their student nurse journeys. Seeing them now as confident, skilled RVNs makes me incredibly proud.

And Karen- someone I’ve known for over 20 years through her amazing work supporting students in practice-your dedication to developing future vet nurses has always stood out.

I didn’t get to see the whole team this time, but it’s clear that Coastal is full of passionate professionals doing incredible work. Thank you for making me feel so welcome!

What an incredible day out visiting practices in and around King’s Lynn 💙

I had the absolute joy of spending time with some amazing nurses today- including both current and former DWA students. Special shoutout to Chloe, Nicole, Amy, and Jess- seeing you all thriving as skilled, compassionate RVNs made me feel so proud. You’re growing in confidence, pushing yourselves with further qualifications, and making such a positive impact in practice. It was an absolute pleasure to see you in action.

I also got to share some exciting news… In 2026, we’ll be launching DWA Alumni as part of our 10th birthday celebrations 🎉 We can’t wait to bring our DWA community back together to celebrate all the incredible things you’ve gone on to achieve.

Such a happy, heart-full day- thank you to everyone who made me feel so welcome!

🔍 Important OSCE Update from VetSkill 🔍

VetSkill has confirmed they do not support OSCE training delivered by non-accredited centres, as this can lead to the sharing of incorrect information. This misinformation can undermine student confidence and negatively impact assessment outcomes.

To ensure student veterinary nurses and clinical supervisors receive accurate, supportive preparation, stick with VetSkill-approved centres like Dick White Academy 💙

We’re proud to offer two upcoming OSCE prep days:

🗓️ Student OSCE Practice Day – Tuesday 24th June
A full day of guided, hands-on task practice to build confidence before the exam.

🗓️ Clinical Supervisor OSCE Preparation Day – Friday 5th September
Designed to support supervisors in understanding the OSCE format and expectations, so you can best support your students.

💷 £100 per day, with a 10% discount for DWA students and affiliated practices.

💚 A small gesture for the people who give so much 💚

Over the coming weeks, the Dick White Academy team will be out and about, visiting practices and catching up with our incredible Clinical Supervisors.

We know how much time, effort and care goes into supporting student veterinary nurses – and we want to say a heartfelt thank you.

We’ll be dropping off little care packages filled with treats and appreciation – just a small way to recognise the huge impact you make every day.

Celebrating Our Amazing January 2023 Veterinary Nursing Apprentices!

Last week, we had the privilege of wishing our January 2023 cohort of veterinary nursing apprentices a fond farewell as they completed their practical period.

This group has been nothing short of exceptional—over 70% have already passed through Gateway, with the rest not far behind! Their dedication, passion, and resilience have truly shone through, and we couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them.
