🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 As a counsellor and psychotherapist working here in Wales, I feel it’s important to gently acknowledge something deeply concerning — the continued rise in male su***des.

💙 Behind every statistic is a son, a father, a partner, a friend. A man who may have felt he had to carry everything alone.

💪 We know that men are still far less likely to reach out for emotional support. Many grow up absorbing messages that they must be strong and self-reliant — that vulnerability is weakness. Over time, this silence can become isolating. Pain that isn’t expressed doesn’t disappear; it often deepens. Suicidal thoughts are often linked to depression, financial pressure, relationship breakdown, loneliness, trauma, substance misuse, or a sense of hopelessness about the future.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 In Wales, and the rest of the UK, we are seeing how these pressures intersect with stigma around men’s mental health.

❤️ Compassion must replace judgement.

💙If you are a man struggling right now:
You are not weak for finding things hard.
You are not a burden and you do not have to face this alone.

👥️ Reaching out to a counsellor, GP, friend, or a support service is an act of strength.
For those supporting men in your lives: checking in, listening without trying to “fix,” and creating space for honest conversation can make more difference than you may realise.

The three of us have combined our skills, experience and knowledge to create a space designed just for you — a chance to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

This is all about taking intentional time out. You’ll be welcomed into a supportive circle where we’ll begin with a therapeutic activity to help you ground and connect. From there, you’ll experience guided meditation, valuable education, and gentle, intentional movement

There will also be space to ask questions, share experiences, and connect with other mums.

💙 Children’s Mental Health Week 💛

Supporting our children’s wellbeing can be deeply rewarding—but let’s be honest, it can also be hard. Being the calm anchor, the safe place, the one who holds it together… that takes energy, patience, and emotional strength.

Many parents tell me they feel guilty for struggling, exhausted for needing a break, or worried they’re “not doing enough.” Please hear this: you are not failing—you are human.

To truly support our children, we also need to look after ourselves. Children learn emotional regulation, resilience, and self-compassion by watching us. When we rest, ask for help, set boundaries, or speak kindly to ourselves, we’re teaching them powerful lifelong skills.

This week is a reminder:
✨ You don’t have to be perfect
✨ Your wellbeing matters too
✨ Looking after yourself is not selfish—it’s essential

If you’re finding things tough, reach out. Support for parents is support for children 💛

I am already starting to see posts about Valentines day- date nights, romantic meals, flowers etc.

Yes it can be a day to make time for your relationship and spoil your loved one 🫶.

But if you’re single, you still get to celebrate.
Love and connection are not reserved for couples.
Celebration doesn’t have to be about a partner — it can be about:

💕 laughing with friends

💕 sharing a meal with people who truly see you

💕 resting, reflecting, or doing something kind just for yourself

It can be about honouring all the ways love shows up in your life — including the love you give yourself 💞

🌸 New Mums Support Group - 6 Week Programme 🌸

I'm a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist and I'm offering a 6 week therapeutic support group for new mums, designed to provide a safe, compassionate space to be heard, understood and supported.

🗓 Duration- 6 weeks

⏰️ Sessions- 1.5 hours each

👥️ Group size- Small & limited spaces (to keep it supportive & personal)

📍Location- Church of St Martin, Newport, NP20 3GY

🗯 Structure- Each week we will explore a different theme related to early motherhood, such as:

▪️ Emotional adjustment to motherhood
▪️ Identity changes & self-compassion
▪️ Relationships & support systems
▪️ Anxiety, overwhelm & expectations

This group is ideal for new mums who want:

⭐️ Emotional support in a non-judgemental space

⭐️ Connection with others who "get it"

⭐️ Gentle therapeutic guidance

⭐️ Time to pause, reflect & feel less alone.

There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with- just come as you are.

Sessions are Tuesday evenings 6.30-8

Men don’t usually get taught how to talk about what’s really going on.
Stress, anger, burnout, relationship issues, feeling stuck — you’re often expected to just “handle it.”

Counselling isn’t about being weak.
It’s about having a space where you don’t have to perform or have the answers.

As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I work with men who want to:
