For all those new to my page, and perhaps to sauna and sauna ritual.. welcome and thanks for being part of the British sauna culture π₯
If you havenβt tried a sauna ritual yet, you may be wondering what it actually is, and what are the benefits of doing one.
There are many types of sauna ritual, and each sauna master will use different techniques based on their influences and experience.
I have trained in Lithuanian pirtis and Finnish sauna healing, and with my background working with trees as a tree surgeon and massage as a masseur, my rituals are influenced and guided by nature and the elements.
A ritual usually lasts around 2 hours, with rounds both in and out of the sauna. The contrast of hot and cold has multiple benefits including detoxification through sweating and cleansing with the cold water.
Rituals can include:
π Salt inhalations infused with essential oils which can be helpful for clearing the respiratory system
π Sweet and salty body scrubs combining seasonal plants and herbs foraged in the local landscape. Great for exfoliation and cleansing the body
πΏWhisks (small bundles of leaves and twigs tied together) Each tree has different properties and nutrients that are beneficial to the mind, body & spirit
π I guide you through each round so you can sit back and relax, enjoy the heat of the sauna and allow your nervous system to reset and recover. Reconnecting you to yourself, to each other and to nature
The benefits of sauna rituals need to be experienced to really understand how they feel for the individual.
Get in touch if youβd like to know more, or head to our website.
Look forward to seeing you in the sauna soon!
Peace, love & LΓΆyly π
