PRESCRIPTION AND LETTERS FROM HOSPITAL CLINICS

Please read this very important notice . Many of you are aware of the new computer system called Encompass that has linked all the hospitals in NI . While GPs have access to this system - we do not use this in our day to day work recording consultations and issuing prescriptions

Over the last few months we have seen a steady increase in the number of phone calls and queries relating to letters and prescription requests coming to the GP surgery .
The way we receive these requests has NOT changed

Many of our hospital colleagues have assumed that when they enter notes or consultations on the system that it’s visible to GPs and we can issue medications or deliver results . We also do not use the Mycare app and only hospital results are released on this device .

We are happy to help our patients but please no do not expect us to change our policy on the way we respond to these urgent requests

It is taking up a lot of time for our reception staff and Clinical staff .
