CONTRIBUTE TO A GOOD CAUSE ON MONDAY 👉🏼

Pop along and join others at The Cwtch Hub CIC this Monday to help send a little loveliness to reduce loneliness.

You will be very welcomed, you’ll make a real difference and feel great 🥰

Earlier this week some of our regulars and volunteers spent the morning writing letters to go to care homes for people that don't get visitors. We'll be doing this again on Monday 10-12 if you like to join us?

🌱 Mental Health Awareness Day: Nourish Your Mind 🌱

This , let’s talk about the incredible link between what we eat and how we feel🧠💚

Did you know that the food we consume can have a huge impact on our mood, energy, and mental well-being? Whether it’s fuelling your body with nutritious meals or nourishing your mind with mindful eating, small changes can make a big difference 🍎🥦

Foods that Boost Your Mood:

🥬Leafy greens & whole grains: Packed with folate, they can help regulate mood and reduce symptoms of depression.

🍣Fatty fish like salmon & mackerel: Rich in omega-3s, they support brain health and improve emotional well-being.

🍓Berries & nuts: Loaded with antioxidants and healthy fats, they promote brain function and protect against stress.

Mood-Boosting Tips:

🍳Start your day with a balanced breakfast to keep your energy levels steady throughout the day.

💧Stay hydrated! Even mild dehydration can affect your mood and concentration.

🧘‍♀️Practice mindful eating: focus on enjoying your meals without distractions, and listen to your body’s hunger cues.

🚶‍♂️Get moving! Regular physical activity can help release endorphins (the feel-good hormones) and improve overall mental health. Even a short walk can do wonders.

🙏Practice gratitude: Taking a moment each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for can improve your mood, reduce stress, and create a positive mindset.

Mental well-being starts from within, and taking care of our bodies with the right foods is one way to support our mental health.

🌸 If you’re struggling, remember, it’s okay to ask for help. Whether it’s a friend, a professional, or even a colleague at the NHS, we're all here to support each other.

🩺Have you been told your cholesterol is raised? With an increase in NHS health screenings which pick up on things like our cholesterol levels, we are seeing more people being referred into the wellbeing team for advice and support on managing cholesterol. If this is you or a loved one, you may find the information below helpful!

🧀 Cholesterol is a fatty substance that is made in the liver and also found in some foods. Our bodies need cholesterol for important functions such as making hormones, vitamin D and bile acids (which help us digest food).

There are two main types of cholesterol carried in the blood:

😑LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein): often called 'bad cholesterol'. If levels are too high, LDL can build up in the walls of the arteries, causing them to narrow. This increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and circulation problems.

🙂HDL cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein): often called 'good cholesterol'. HDL carries cholesterol away from the arteries back to the liver, where it can be broken down and removed from the body. Higher levels of HDL are protective for heart health.

⬆ High cholesterol usually does not cause any symptoms, so many people will not know they have it until they have a blood test. The good news is that lifestyle changes, especially around food choices and physical activity, can lower LDL cholesterol, raise HDL cholesterol, and improve overall heart health. See the poster below for details😊
