Information for free food & goods support this Christmas ~ community larders, fridges and foodbanks ➡️

Christmas can be an expensive time of year, and we know there may be people struggling who need a little extra help.

Across Teignbridge and Devon, there are food banks, community fridges, and larders available to help those most in need.

Food banks provide basic stocks of food and provisions, free of charge and community fridges and larders offer food for free that would have otherwise gone to waste.

Teignbridge CVS has created a list of all food support available throughout Christmas. You can also find help and advice on our website.

Templer Wellbeing have recently been collaborating with Rotary Newton Abbot and today Debbie & Nadine visited the launch of the their first POP UP FOODMARKET with Devon & Cornwall Food Action - DCFA.

Rotary members have been working hard to bring an accessible food source to our community—helping cut food waste and tackle poverty.

Information from TALKWORKS - NHS.
Learn more about seasonal affective disorder and how TALKWORKS can help in our blog:
https://www.talkworks.dpt.nhs.uk/blog/the-best-ways-to-cope-with-sad-in-winter

Symptoms can range from low mood, feeling irritable, feelings of worthlessness, stress or low self esteem. It is possible to make small changes. Changes or telling someone is a positive start 🙂

For some people, symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) can feel more noticeable or harder to manage during the winter.

But small things can help:

🔵 try some physical activity – anything that gets you moving
🔵 make the most of natural light – getting outside or sitting near windows
🔵 plan for tougher days – shifting stressful tasks or building in more rest

There’s also treatment available if you’re finding things really tough – such as light therapy, talking therapies or medication.
