Stillness is not about escaping the world or keeping everything calm. It is about remembering that beneath the movement, there is a steady place within us that we can return to. And each time we slow down, breathe, and notice this, we can reconnect with that quiet centre. That is at the heart of mindfulness practice.
Practising awareness of the breath, noticing sensations in the body, and observing thoughts without judgement helps us remain present even when things feel challenging. The aim is not to remove the chaos or make life quieter, but rather to cultivate an inner steadiness that supports us through whatever arises.
Life does not become quieter when we practise mindfulness. The noise, the uncertainty and the challenges are still there, but our relationship to them changes. We begin to create an inner space where we can observe rather than immediately react, where we can respond with awareness instead of habit. This is where we find peace.
Join me for a Mindfulness Silent Day Retreat at Namaste Barn, Saturday 21st February from 9.30 - 4.30 pm.
