This is a fantastic call to action but...the scale up of this provision is something we and Education Support know alot about. I hope we are involved/consulted as EVERYTHING we do is for the system/children and young people. We are the largest provider of long term supervision to Senior Leaders in the UK.
This needs to not be hurried or supervision will lose its fidelity and capacity to safeguard both children and educators.
🚨 School leadership is taking an unsustainable toll on mental health
Almost half (45%) of school leaders needed mental health and well-being support in the last year, while 72% say the job has negatively affected their mental health — a sharp rise on last year.
Leaders report worsening sleep, increased stress, declining physical health, and less time with family and friends, while also spending more time supporting staff well-being.
NAHT is calling on the government to introduce a universal, fully-funded entitlement to professional supervision for all school leaders, alongside action to tackle excessive workload and high-stakes accountability.
School leaders play a vital role in our education system — but without urgent action, the pressure will continue to drive too many out of the profession.
