Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer, and being aware of the signs is vital for early diagnosis.

Key symptoms include blood in the urine; the persistent or recurrent need to pass urine more often or more urgently; and pelvic pain/discomfort. If you experience any of these, it's essential to seek advice from a health professional as soon as possible. If you are a GP and a patient presents with these symptoms, knowing when to act quickly is crucial.

Most skin cancers are caused by skin damage that happens from exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun or sunbeds.

All types of skin are at risk of sun damage and skin cancer.

The risk is highest if you have skin that tends to burn easily, or freckle in the sun.

If you have black or brown skin, you can get skin cancer but it is less likely. You still need to protect your skin from the sun and check for anything unusual.

It is important for everyone to follow skin protection advice and to check their skin regularly.

🚨 Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) Coming Soon! 🚨

From 11th August 2026, Newtown Medical Practice will be moving to the National Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) 💊📲

This means most prescriptions will be sent electronically from the surgery directly to your chosen pharmacy — no more green paper prescriptions for many patients!

✔ Faster, easier prescription processing
✔ Less chance of prescriptions being lost
✔ Collect medication directly from your pharmacy
✔ More environmentally friendly 🌍

📱 You can also order repeat medication easily using the NHS Wales App — speak to the surgery if you need help setting this up. https://app.nhs.wales

🏥 IMPORTANT FOR DISPENSARY PATIENTS 🏥
If you collect your medication from our Dispensary at Newtown Medical Practice, there will be no changes and no nominations are needed.
Please continue to order and collect your medication as normal. 😊

💬 When you next visit your pharmacy, please ask about nominating them to receive your electronic prescriptions from the 18th May 2026.

📦 Appliances (e.g. stoma bags etc.)
If you receive appliances, these will now also be sent electronically to your chosen provider. Please let our Dispensary know.
