🔥 WHY YOUR NECK PAIN IS NOT JUST “BAD POSTURE”
That forward head position you notice after long hours on your phone or laptop isn’t just a “bad habit”…
From a sports massage and biomechanics point of view, it’s a load problem.
Your head weighs around 4–5 kg in a neutral position.
But as it drifts forward, that load multiplies due to leverage.
👉 The lower neck (especially C5–C7) ends up تحمل far more stress than it’s designed for.
Over time, this leads to:
• Chronic muscle tension
• Cervical overload
• Reduced mobility
• Protective tightness through the neck and shoulders
But here’s the key 👇
As a sports massage therapist, I don’t just see “tight muscles”…
I see a chain reaction:
➡️ The neck takes the load
➡️ The upper back rounds to compensate
➡️ The body adapts to survive the position
So what feels like stiffness…
Is actually your body organising itself under constant forward load.
💆♂️ Where sports massage comes in
Sports massage isn’t just about “loosening tight areas”…
It helps to:
✔️ Reduce overload in overworked muscles (especially C5–C7 region)
✔️ Improve tissue quality and blood flow
✔️ Restore movement in the neck and upper back
✔️ Break the cycle of constant tension and guarding
But most importantly…
👉 It supports your body while you correct the load patterns causing the issue
💡 That’s why:
Stretching alone = short-term relief
Because it doesn’t change the mechanics creating the problem
✅ What actually helps long-term?
• Reduce time spent in forward head positions
• Improve thoracic (upper back) mobility
• Strengthen postural support muscles
• Combine movement changes with hands-on treatment
This isn’t just posture…
It’s how your body responds to daily stress and gravity.
Change the load → Change the outcome.
