Two common traits when struggling with self esteem.........

Being very hard on yourself, even when you’re doing your best
🥰TRY practicing kinder self-talk – notice how you speak to yourself and gently challenge the harsh inner voice.

Struggling to say no or putting others’ needs before your own
🥰TRY to set small, respectful boundaries – honouring your needs builds self-trust over time

You don’t have to be “falling apart” to benefit from counselling.
Sometimes it’s about having a space to think out loud, make sense of patterns, or learn to be kinder to yourself.

Support isn’t a last resort — it can be part of self-care🥰

January can feel heavy. New expectations, new goals, and quiet pressure to “start fresh.”

A gentle reminder: you don’t have to rush, fix, or reinvent yourself right now.

Being kind to yourself this January might look like resting when you’re tired, noticing small wins, or simply getting through the day. And that’s enough. 🥰

This can be a very helpful question to pause and ask ourselves in the mornings, some ideas ........number 1 is used frequently in our house😀

1. Can anyone help unload the dishwasher please??
2. Go to bed earlier so the next day is a little easier
3. Definitely take a lunch break, try not to work through
4. Instead of more chores, go for a walk and listen to some comedy
5. Stop and breathe every hour, not everything has to feel urgent
6. Get clothes ready for the next day
7. Actively schedule in ways to recoup that can be with or without others
8. Look up positive news stories as opposed to mainstream news

How to Practice the EMDR Blue Smoke Technique to calm the nervous system🌪

1. Close eyes, breathe normally

2. Inhale slowly and deeply, imagining that you are breathing in a calm, clean, clear blue colour

3. Exhale slowly and completely, imagining that you are breathing out any stress, tension, or pain as a dark blue smoke. As you exhale, focus on letting go of these negative feelings.

4. Repeat: Continue this cycle for several minutes, with each breath in bringing in more calm blue, and each breath out expelling more dark smoke, until your entire body feels filled with the calm blue colour and the dark smoke is gone.

Simply put EMDR is a psychological technique that can help the mind/ body process and heal from distressing events. It allows us to address past difficulties in a safe manner and change the feeling and thinking around these events, so they are no longer as intense and ultimately lose their impact.

One of the major benefits from EMDR techniques is learning body-based tools. These help to rebalance the nervous system and achieve behavioural goals which are challenging to meet.

If this approach could be helpful for you, please get in contact with Quiet Mind Counselling.
