COMMUNITY MONDAY
Today we started on 'Operation Warehouse Garden.'
We have offered to give the garden area at The Warehouse a makeover as a thank you for all that they do to support us. Today was all about getting it tidied up and into some sort of order. CJ was manager of the project today and he worked hard all day. Erin was a bit slower to get started but once she got going she got a promotion to supervisor because she was leading by example and helping others. Callum and Connie made a fantastic team and worked together to get the bags filled. Sam helped llewellyn and Janine with brushing and lifting and worked so hard. It was decided that it was best if llewellyn and Janine didn't bother going for the Charlie Dimmock look today 🤣 Everyone really worked hard and we're glad to see the sausage & bacon baps for lunch. After we finished for the day Callum and Sam went with Janine to buy Rocky a new lead as his broke this morning, and everyone else went for a walk around the square.
We really do love helping and look forward to next week to get a bit more done. Everyone will sleep tonight. 💤

TAKE 5 FOR WELLBEING
This week we are very thankful for everyone who supports us in any way. We are so blessed to have so many people who are kind with their time, gifts and words of encouragement. Below is a little comment of praise from someone who has been encouraging from the start. Karen has worked with adults with learning disabilities for years so this is such a treasured review of our service and the difference we are all making.

"This project which provides day support opportunities for adults with learning disabilities situated in Co Down is truly incredible. It is fully inclusive and provides a multitude of community based activities and opportunities to meet the needs of each individual. The staff are so dedicated and have years of training and experience and the hub from which the project operates is so welcoming and supportive. This project is so inspiring and very suitable for those individuals who benefit from smaller group activities with a variety of daily and weekly programmes to meet each individuals needs and interests . It is such a fabulous opportunity and alternative to traditional day centres and I honestly encourage school leavers and their families to visit and be amazed at exactly what is on offer here."

FRY FRIDAY
Today wasn't Llewellyns day at all. Hit a pothole on the way to dancercise and got a puncture so back to the HUB to get it fixed. Andy Lyttle got her sorted and everyone headed to Portaferry. Erin went to the aquarium while everyone else went for a walk and then had an ice-cream. We then headed to Denholm for their coffee morning. We enjoyed breakfast baps and some sweet treats.
We had a nice walk around the harbour to do some seal spotting. Back at the HUB disaster struck Llewellyn again when the toilet blocked!! 🚽🪠 While Llewellyn struggled everyone decided that a mindfulness session was required to get them ready for the weekend 😉

THIS & THAT THURSDAY
Today was volunteering @ Mount Stewart. Massive well done to everyone for working so hard. We had a really big task today, to clear a large forest area of all the broken and cut branches. We had to pile them all up and then we had to move them to another area which was quite far away. Everyone worked really hard and we had a massive pile gathered up. The weather was glorious so we all enjoyed it.
We had an unexpected early finish today which was a nice surprise 🫢

WELLBEING WEDNESDAY
It was straight to the HUB this morning to get the soup made for soup club because we were so busy yesterday. Connie and Sam worked so hard to get all the carrots peeled and the coriander chopped. While the soup was cooking we put ribbons on our Easter decorations. After we delivered the soup we went for a walk around the harbour and had a sneaky ice-cream. Back at soup club we enjoyed our lunch and a bit of craic with everyone. Back at the HUB we decided to try making mini cookie dough pies and we filled them with chocolate spread and experimented with different fillings. While they were cookibg we had a short mindfulness session. We had a taste test before home time and the cookie pies were delicious.

TRAVEL TUESDAY 🍀
St Patrick's day was spent at the Ulster folk museum. We had great fun seeing everything and hearing about the olden days. We were joined by our good friend Kathy Clarke today which was lovely. Kathy, Sam and Callum entertained the crowd with some East Coast dancing 🤣 We met our friend Alderman Robert Adair, his mum Geraldine Thompson and nephew Joshua and has a great chat and a laugh.
After lunch in Subway we did some shopping then headed to Ward park for a nice walk.

COMMUNITY MONDAY
CJ & Callum started today with some weeding and tidying at Beyond the Battlefield and then did the same at the harbour flowerbed and planters that belong to Portavogie Regeneration group. Back at the HUB Connie & Sam got to work painting the Easter decorations we will be leaving around the village. We then headed to Portaferry for a tour round the Portaferry Hotel. We really enjoyed seeing around all the different areas and hearing about all the different jobs that people do to make things run smoothly even when they are busy. We had a lovely time and it was topped off with drinks and tray bakes. Thank you to Siobhan for showing us round and for the refreshments. ☕🍪 Back at the HUB Bryan HT called up to show us pictures and videos of his Eswatini trip. Callum & CJ sorted the HUB out while Erin, Sam & Connie headed to Tesco to get the ingredients for soup for Wednesday's soup club.
We want to send a massive thank you to our friend Frances Hazel for sending each participant an Easter egg and also lots of sweets 🍬🍫🍭 to enjoy at the HUB - very generous and we really do appreciate it.

TAKE 5 FOR WELLBEING
This week's focus was on giving. A few weeks ago we celebrated international pizza day and we were saying about how much we love pizza and how sad it was that some people rarely get a chance to have a pizza treat. The young people asked if we could make a donation from their Christmas sale money to the Elim mission team to buy pizza for the kids while they were in Eswatini. This week we got pictures of the kids enjoying the pizza. All our young people were delighted to be sharing the love. We also got photos of the mosaic we made for the new classroom in Eswatini which made it over in one piece.
We love how kind and thoughtful our young people are and that they are always willing to help where they can. In a world where so many people are wanting to take all the time instead of giving, it's refreshing to see so much kindness from our wee group. They make us proud everyday.

FRY FRIDAY
We started with Dancercise this morning to get us all wakened up. Erin then headed to Exploris while the boys went for their fry. Erin wanted to do some dolphin spotting so we set off to Burr point as they were spotted there last week, but unfortunately we didn't see any. Back at the HUB the boys had a game of tennis while Erin watched some TV. We got our mother's day gifts all parcelled up and wrote our cards. The boys did some recycling before chilling out with hot chocolate and some cake. We ended our day with a guided meditation session. It's lovely to see that the young people are really feeling the benefits of these wellness sessions and are requesting them most afternoons.

THIS & THAT THURSDAY
Today was all about our mums. We enjoyed picking colours and painting our clay flowers then adding them to the jars we decorated on Monday. We really enjoyed the clay work on Monday so we made some clay Easter eggs for a community project next week. There are a few strange shaped eggs but they will be lovely when we get them finished. Connie stamped them with an Easter stamp to decorate them. Watch this space for the finished product next week.
Our friend Debbie Pyper came up and we had a fantastic card making workshop where we made mother's day cards. Everyone picked their colours and enjoyed decorating them. We had a cuppa and a chat along the way. It was a quick stop at the shopping centre on the way home to get a few things we needed. It's all about the love today 💓

WELLBEING WEDNESDAY
Today was all about movement and relaxation. We started with circuits this morning, before we had bacon & sausage baps - just to keep our strength up. 🥓 🌭 Our good friend Bernie came and led a fantastic Pilates session with us where we did lots of bending and stretching. We did some recycling and sorted photos for our year book before lunch. We had a chilled afternoon with some games and a mindfulness session, ready to head home very refreshed. 🧘‍♂️

TRAVEL TUESDAY
Today we travelled to the lost city and played the sunken skull mini golf course. Connie started very strong with a hole in one ⛳ it all went a bit astray after that and it's safe to say Rory won't be having any sleepless nights worrying about us stealing his titles. 🤣 It has been suggested that there might have been a bit of cheating going on - some dribbling of the ball instead of hitting it but I don't believe it for a minute!! 😉
After golf we headed to Burger king for lunch. The girls wanted a bit of time to do some shopping. On the way home we stopped into the duck pond for a walk around but most of the ducks were sheltered away as it was cold and windy - we did see a rat though 🐀🤮
Another great day full of fun and adventure.
