COMMUNITY MONDAY
Today we started by getting our garden area cleared of the summer plants and started our winter planting. We were then joined by staff from Ulster Bank to do a workshop about strategies for saving our money and also information on scams and how to keep our money safe. Great workshop but some of us weren't too convinced that saving money was a good idea because there are so many great things to buy- we can only buy try 🤣
After lunch was a run to the recycling centre then Bryan brought us up some shoes for us to sort out for Eswatini. Then we had a walk before home.
We are planning on starting to sell our poppy crafts this week for the poppy appeal. We will hopefully be having a stall at the harbour on Thursday afternoon from 1.30- 2.15. please call with us for a chat if you are passing. Also items can be ordered by messaging us.

This week for take 5 we covered all 5 areas and especially focused on things we are thankful for. Erin was thankful that she had the willpower to save her money and finally get to the Lego store, Sam was thankful for having fun & Callum was thankful for buns and for a plate to put his buns on 😃 sometimes it's the little things that mean the most.

FRY FRIDAY
today was a bit different to our usual Friday. We started with MORE work on our poppy crafts then our friend Jane came up to do a pumpkin decorating workshop which was fab so a big thank you to Jane. Our friend Margaret called up with plants that have been generously donated by Portavogie Regeneration group and she stayed for a cuppa and a chat, thanks guys. Before lunch we got our purple planting done for world mental health day. It was a takeaway fry today as we were on a tight schedule. 😜 We were invited to Portavogie PS to join in with a Fitness Freddy exercise class in the afternoon which we really enjoyed and had a good laugh at some of the moves. Thanks for the invite Mrs Murray. We managed to squeeze a bit of chill time in before home. Another great week at East Coast.

Today is World Mental Health Day and we have decided to 'plant purple' to celebrate. We are planting crocus bulbs in pots we have already decorated. This symbolises taking root somewhere safe that we can grow and blossom, giving hope that more beautiful things are coming and that even when they fade they will blossom again. We will take time to be thankful for all the positive things in our lives.

THURSDAY VOLUNTEERING
Today we had to cancel Mount Stewart because of various things but we still had a volunteering session at Harbour House
We started our day with a session at the outdoor gym then headed to the beach for a nature walk finding various things like bird prints, rock pools, sea china etc, the boys did well and found everything on the list. After break we decorated our purple pots ready for planting tomorrow. We headed to Harbour House to do some weeding then had a movie and popcorn hour before lunch. We had some table tennis before the chores began and then started to sort out our poppy crafts- we will be selling these in the next couple of weeks for the poppy appeal and also leaving some around the peninsula for folks to find- more info to follow. Another busy day at team East Coast

WELLBEING WEDNESDAY
Sam was on his own today and had a fab day of fun. He started with our new circuits exercise class where he worked hard on his strength and stamina. He had worked up an appetite so stopped at the shop to get stuff to make bacon sandwiches. Lego, Halloween art, chill time and recycling before lunch. Then we went to Walkers to get some crocus and purple pots for our planting for mental health session on Friday. A walk around the duck pond finished the day.

TRAVEL TUESDAY.
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!
So today's plans changed. A few weeks ago we set Erin a challenge to save a certain amount of money and we would take her to the Lego store- we were confident that this would never happen as Erin doesn't usually save. Monday morning comes and Erin had an announcement that not only did she save the amount we set for her she also saved half as much again. So as promised we changed the plans and went to the Lego store today so that Erin could buy herself something. It took a while but eventually she decided on what to buy. Then of course it wouldn't be a trip to Belfast without a visit to forbidden planet. Callum really enjoyed building the Lego but decided that he didn't want any lego but opted for purchasing coke zero and wine gums. Unfortunately on the way home Callum wasn't feeling very well so went home early while Erin went to the HUB and had lunch then did some poppy crafts and had a bit of a chill out.
We are so very proud of Erin rising to the challenge and as always we are happy to change plans to suit our young people and we love to celebrate their successes.
