Hi 👋🏼
I’m Mel.

I’m your friendly Pilates & Yoga teacher… or I COULD be! I’m also a Breathwork Facilitator, too.

Here are some interesting facts about me...

I’ve recently discovered leggings feel dated on me - if you still love them, you do you, Boo!
But I am now obsessed with parachute pants😆🪂

I love colour & I used to be an interior designer when I lived & worked in London 🎨🖌️

I love riding horses, usually crazy, wild, children’s ponies suit me best, as I’m only 5’2.

I’m always cold, so I cannot wait for summer! I’m definitely solar powered ☀️

I’m a solo parent to a 15 year old. He was born at home, in a birthing pool & I used hypnobirthing to prepare for his arrival & bring him into this world.

I like to do things a little bit different to the norm & I have a sauna room in my house 🧖

I love a charity shop & clothes. Some of my best outfits are charity shop discoveries!

I was born in Leeds & gravitate back there regularly to hang out with my friends & drink (decaf!) coffee. I bloody LOVE Leeds.

I haven’t drunk alcohol in 18 years. People think it’s weird but I love being a non-drinker.

I was born in 1977 - that makes me 48 (and a half!) years old.

So that’s me… Pilates teacher, pony rider & parachute pant enthusiast🧘🏼‍♂️🐴🪂

If we haven’t met yet… maybe we will one day soon.

Come say hi 👋🏼

Right now, the world needs women more than ever.

I’m lucky enough to work with them every single day!

95% of my clients are women.
Strong.
Brave.
Determined.
Resilient.
Compassionate.
Powerful in ways they don’t always see themselves.

They show up.
They hold families together.
They build businesses.
They carry responsibility quietly.
They keep going when things feel heavy.

And still, they carve out space to move, to breathe, to reconnect with themselves.

Pilates.
Yoga.
Breathwork.

Not just for strength in the body,
but for strength in the mind.
In the nervous system.

To every woman in this community…
YOU inspire me, daily.

Today, we celebrate you 🎉
And every day, we continue to support you.

Right now, the world needs women more than ever 🤍

Happy International Women’s Day, 8th March 2026 🌿

You’re missing out if your Pilates class doesn’t contain standing exercises…

Why? You’re missing out on the opportunity to work on your pelvic floor!

The pelvic floor can weaken or deteriorate at several key stages in a woman’s life, usually when the tissues are under increased load, hormonal changes occur, or muscle support declines. Pregnancy, childbirth, peri-menopause & menopause & aging can all contribute to a less than effective pelvic floor.

However, pelvic floor function can still improve at any age with appropriate exercise and whole-body movement training.

During my Pilates classes, we usually spend at least half the class practicing standing work.

Strong feet, calves & legs play a bigger role in pelvic floor health than many people realise.

In Pilates (and life!) we often work from the ground up. When the feet are active & aligned, the arches lift & the muscles of the lower leg engage. This creates supportive tension through the body’s fascial lines & can even stimulate a reflexive response in the pelvic floor.

Exercises like heel raises, controlled weight shifts, squats & single-leg work strengthen the calves, hips & glutes. These muscles help stabilise the pelvis & support the pelvic floor during everyday movements like walking, climbing stairs & lifting.

Standing Pilates exercises also train balance & coordination, which encourages the pelvic floor to respond automatically to changes in load & movement.

The goal isn’t just isolated pelvic floor contractions… it’s helping the pelvic floor work as part of a whole-body system.

We don’t require stability when we are laying down, we need balance, coordination and stability when upright, moving, walking, running, transiting up & down stairs & steps. So we train in upright positions to ensure we are stable when standing in real life.

Strong foundation.
Responsive core.
Better support from the ground up.

For almost 17 years, I’ve had the privilege of guiding people to feel stronger, more mobile & more at home in their own bodies. I truly believe movement should feel supportive, not punishing & breath should feel empowering, not complicated.

My classes combine strength, softness
& nervous system support - because true wellbeing isn’t just about muscles, it’s about balance.

If you’re looking for a space where you can move intelligently, breathe deeply & feel genuinely supported, you’ve found it.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Want to join me & others in a class?

I honestly believe my classes are unlike any others you’ve tried before.

I have face to face classes in the community, plus my online class, weekly, that just fits into your busy life whenever works for you.

The conversation usually goes like this:

“I really didn’t want to come out this evening, but I’m SO glad I did. I feel so much better now!”

Mind/Body exercise is excellent for reducing stress, anxiety & depression while boosting mental clarity. These practices improve physical strength, flexibility, balance & heart health. They work by lowering cortisol levels, enhancing brain plasticity & promoting emotional regulation, creating a holistic sense of well-being.

Not to mention the benefits of moving as a collective in a group setting.

When you exercise with others, your brain releases more oxytocin than when you train solo.
This hormone lowers cortisol & makes you feel safer & calmer.

Anxiety often comes with a feeling of being alone in your experience.

Exercising with others interrupts that.
Shared effort tells your brain you’re part of something, not isolated.

Your brain tracks whether you belong.
When you move in sync with others, even strangers, it registers as social bonding.

That sense of belonging directly reduces anxiety.

The presence of others changes how your brain processes the effort.

Undergoing surgery or having an injury doesn’t mean you can’t ever exercise again.

We take the advice of your consultant or health care provider and also take into consideration the way you feel in your body and we go from there.

I teach Pilates based on physiotherapy style exercises, which are used to rehabilitate and strengthen the body. 1-1 Reformer Pilates is also a tool I use with some clients to correct issues too.

Confidence is the one thing that leaves people feeling wary to return. Once you’ve made it into a session, confidence usually skyrockets and clients wonder why they didn’t do it sooner 🎉

If you’d like to get back to exercise following a set back, drop me a message to talk about how we can move forward in a way that’s right for you 📩

Did you know a mind/body practice like Pilates or Yoga can help improve the quality of your sleep?

Breathwork practices are also a fantastic tool for calming the nervous system & helping you sleep.

Combine the two together?

Movement AND Breathwork?

That’s the MAGIC ✨✨✨

You won’t see ‘before’ & ‘after’ photographs on my profile like you might on others 🤳🏼

I can’t take before & after photos to showcase my work because you can’t photograph a feeling, a sensation or a mood!

It’s impossible to capture effects of a long-term, regular practice of Pilates or Yoga & how it can make you feel, especially because everybody’s benefits will be different. Everybody’s aims & goals will differ too. It’s impossible to measure.

Some of the less obvious benefits of a regular mind body practice such as Yoga & Pilates are:

♥️ Improved sleep - The meditative effects of a mind/body practice help soothe the mind, making it easier to fall into a deep, restorative sleep.

♥️ Better mood - we work on BREATHING, which is essential for accessing the para-sympathetic nervous system & creating calm in the body, helping reduce stress, anxiety & depression

♥️Managing pain - specifically in conditions like arthritis.

♥️ Improve cognitive function - improving concentration & memory.

♥️ Improves balance & coordination - Regular practice enhances body awareness (proprioception) & stability, which is particularly useful for preventing falls, which become more common as we age.

Of course, Pilates has many physical benefits too, some of them are visible even, but how you feel in life is the MOST important thing!

What I create isn’t just something you see. It’s something you carry with you long after you leave. It lives in the way you breathe deeper, stand taller & feel more like yourself again. Some transformations don’t show up in photos… they show up in energy, in presence, in the quiet confidence that returns when everything finally aligns. That’s the kind of work no camera could ever truly capture ✨

Want to work with me? I have spaces for Yoga & Pilates in face to face classes, Virtual Pilates, 1-1 Reformer Pilates & 1-1 Breathwork too.

Drop me a message to chat or get started 📩
All welcome ♥️
