Spent the afternoon with one of my customers who is 92 in the next couple of weeks. We spent the afternoon shopping and chatting about her childhood and the time she spent in Scotland.

The snow , cold and icy conditions affect everyone in different ways. Some can’t get out and get provisions and some have to brave the elements. Organisations such as Changing Lives do amazing work.

I'm going to be very interested to see how the new Minister for Loneliness, Tracey Crouch tackles this. I can only see it as a positive step but I believe it's important to add that this responsibility lies with us all, not just a politician.

Have a chat and a cuppa
Knock on your neighbours door if you feel that they are lonely
Offer to grab them some shopping
Just do something!!

Don't underestimate the potentially catastrophic effect that loneliness can have on someone.

The government creates a new ministerial role, which continues the work of the late MP Jo Cox.
