Do you tell yourself you are busy? Stressed? Tired?

You could be inadvertently sabotaging yourself! Your mind is a sneaky thing, and whatever you keep telling yourself, it will find evidence for this being right.

Take me as an example: ""i'm too stressed"", ""I can't cope"", ""I can't do anything right"" (you get the idea), and my brain would highlight to me every time I felt stressed or made a mistake.

But, if you change your mindset then your mind looks for different evidence... ""I can do this thing really well"", ""My friends smile when they see me"", "" If I ask for help, I always get it."". Then your mind will be highlighting how you ARE good at that thing, and your friends are happy to see you and help you out when you need it!

Break the cycle of a bad mindset!

When you are stressed out, your family feels it.

Whether they know it consciously or not, they will feel the tension, they will know 'something' is wrong. Even babies and your pets will know and show a physical response when you are at the end of your tether.

When my daughter was about 6 months old I started getting really bad anxiety (the c-vid was in full flow then) and it got to a point I was afraid to go near anyone or even go outside. When things finally began opening up again, and I had some therapy/help my daughter had already been imprinted with my anxieties. It took lots of time/effort to assure her that she was safe outside the house.

Now I could get wrapped up in the mum guilt of it all, but I've chosen to see it as a learning opportunity instead. Now I KNOW how important my emotions/actions/words are for my daughter!

Six types of meditation, and which one works the best...

No matter what anyone tells you, your experiences are personal! What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa!

My favourite beginner meditations are anything that focuses your attention on just one thing, which is particularly good for calming the mind, eg, breath awareness.

These include; breathing meditations, visualisations and yoga nidras.

What's your favourite?

Do you ever find yourself with so much to do that you end up doing nothing?? SAME! Doom-scrolling seems to be my autopilot go to when my brain can't cope with the sheer volume of tasks on my list.

Imagine writing down your to do list on bits of paper and putting them in the washing machine (your mind)... they just jumbled around and end up as a big sticky lump. Not very easy to get anything done!

But, if you focus on just one thing at a time, you can get a lot more done, and end up getting through your list in a much less stressful way! You can practice this through mindfulness meditations!

Single-pointed focus helps to calm your mind.

Don't waste your time trying to clear your mind, you can't really have "no thoughts." Been there, tried it, doesn't work!

Try this instead:
Focus on an object, like a candle flame. Just think about that. Every time your mind starts to wander, bring it back to your object.
Don't judge yourself for having a thought, just acknowledge it and let it go.
