What is the BACP? ❓
What is meant by ‘Registered Member’? 🤔
And why does it matter to you as a client? 🧐

I am a Registered Member of the BACP - British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

This organisation was created;
🔆 to set standards for therapeutic and psychological work to ensure clients are treated ethically and fairly
🔆 so we as counsellors can be held accountable if needs be - providing clients with support and information and a formal complaints procedure to follow if it comes to that
🔆 to offer support, guidance, and training/education to psychotherapists and counsellors

🔍 There are other organisations available who offer similar benefits - I am personally with the BACP because it was a requirement throughout my training and I feel they are best suited to me.

Why does this matter to you 🫵 ??
Whoever you go to for therapy, please do some research on your chosen therapist. Find out who they are registered with and ensure it’s genuine.
It can be worryingly easy to fall into the trap of what sounds like ‘great value therapy’ only to find out it’s being facilitated by someone who has no accountability, no standards to work to, and in some cases no formal training or qualifications.

Whoever you go to, and whatever it’s for, make sure you research them beforehand.

You deserve a professional, high-quality and ethical service 🏆

Whilst spring is just around the corner, those cold snaps ⛄️ and rainy days 🌧️ are still very much with us
…..But there’s no such thing as bad weather - just bad clothing.

So wrap up warm, get your wellies on, and get yourself outside 🚶‍♂️‍➡️🚶‍♀️‍➡️

Even on the days you don’t feel like it; once you’re out and about, your mind and body will thank you for it 🙏 💚

If you don’t let yourself feel the bad stuff, you won’t have the opportunity to feel the good stuff after.
Have a cry. Scream into a pillow. Swear at inanimate objects.
Then breathe and move forward 🚶 🙌

Carl Rogers saw the beginning of a massive shift in therapy - where he treated clients as equals, not patients. 🤝
He created a space where the expert in the room was not the therapist, but the client themselves.
I fully believe everyone has the power to change if given the correct tools and environment, and I believe no one knows you better than you know yourself.
And this is why I integrate a person-centred approach when working with clients. I may be a qualified counsellor, but in our sessions, you are the expert 👨‍🎓

It’s a real privilege to join people on their journeys and I feel genuinely lucky to have the opportunity to do what I do 🥰

We’re hitting the last quarter of January now….
Did you set yourself any New Year’s Resolutions? Have you been heading towards your goals? Or maybe you stopped even after the first couple of days? (I know I’ve been guilty of this more than once!)

This video offers some great insight into why people often fail to achieve their resolutions, and ways to meet new targets.

Just remember; a New Resolution doesn’t have to start on January 1st.
You can set a new goal on any day of the year, and that day can be tomorrow 🫶

There’s some great advice here in this short video than can help in making small changes to improve your quality of life, no matter what they may be.

Have you broken your News Year's resolution? If so, you're not alone - on average 80% of resolutions fail. How can we get better at making and sticking to ou...

So with all the festivities over and done, and January well under way, I’m sure many of us are experiencing some of the same feelings, which can be summed up with one word… ‘blah’.

But are these feelings interfering with your day-to-day life?
Seasonal Affective Disorder, or Seasonal Depression, is something many of us have to struggle through over the winter months. With the sunlight dwindling and the cold weather taking hold, even the more trivial day-to-day tasks can feel like you’ve got a mountain to climb.

Looking after yourself is the best way to get through it; ensuring you get some time outside (even on the days you really don’t want to - there’s no such thing as bad weather; just bad clothing 😉 ) sitting by windows if you work long hours indoors, and ensuring you try and maintain a balanced diet to replenish the vitamins lost due to the poorer weather) are great ways to keep on top of your mental health.

And if things do get really bad, please reach out to family or friends, or local organisations who can provide a space to talk 🗣️ 💚

Hi, me again 👋 I’m re-sharing this for now, just to re-introduce myself!
It’s been my daughter’s birthday this past week so things got a little busy with that, and I do also currently work supporting teenagers in college, but I will be sharing new content regularly over the next few days so just wanted to do a little reset before we get going!
I now have just a few spaces left on weekday evenings so if you’re interested or would like to know more about the work I do, feel free click the link on my profile to direct yourself to the BACP counselling register, particularly if you’d like to make an enquiry or a booking 🙂

Welcome, and thank you for checking out this little corner of Facebook ☺️
Allow me to introduce myself;
My name is Steph, and I’m a qualified Therapist based in Northamptonshire 👋
I’ve created this page as my business and dream, Mountains and Molehills Therapy, finally becomes a reality. My website will soon be up and running, but in the mean time there will be information coming on how to contact me to make a booking via the BACP register.
I can offer sessions online, and I can also provide you with support face-to-face via ‘walk and talk therapy’ in some wonderful green spaces across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes.
I’m really looking forward to engaging with the online community and accompanying people on their journeys of self-discovery, as I begin a new journey of my own ☺️

Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but not for everyone.
This time of year can be a real challenge for many of us.
If you are struggling, for whatever reason, here’s some great places to reach out to over the next few weeks. A great share from Christmas Countdown UK
Don’t feel pressured to just get on with things, you don’t owe that to anyone.
