❤️ EXCITING NEWS ❤️
So from Wednesday 5th June, Bella and I will be volunteering in North Walsham Library as read2dogs/wellbeing (Pets as Therapy) sessions 3:30pm to 4:30pm. We will also be assisting with the Summer reading scheme 🐶😍

So today Bitsy and I volunteered in A&E, resus, urgent care and Eleanor ward today. We saw 9 paramedics, 5 consultants/drs, 12 nurses/hca and approx. 18 patients.
We got a beautiful card from a family of a palliative care patient. Getting a Polaroid camera has provided happiness for many patients having a photo taken with Bitsy - took 6 today on Eleanor ward ❤️

So today Bitsy and I volunteered on Collingtree A & B wards and saw 22 patients there. Then we went to a new ward Hawthorn because we saw the Sister Nurse whilst on Collingtree and she invited us over! We saw 8 patients there including a lady we saw in A&E.
Talking of which, the gentleman we saw on Friday in A&E (palliative care) passed away on Saturday but his daughter called the volunteer office and wanted to pass on thanks and praise to what Bitsy and I did for them all ❤️ 🥲

Because I'm in-between jobs at the moment, I thought I'd volunteer at the hospital today. Too most, people hate hospitals but for me strangely, it's my happy place!!
We went onto Eleanor ward (fragility ward) and A&E. This time we saw more staff than patients but we still took 5 photos for patients and gave out 4 lavender bags to patients and family.
Including a palliative care patient - never take life for granted. Live each day as your last even if you do feel like crap ❤️

So today mummy and I volunteered on Willow ward, Rowan ward and A&E resus and urgent care. We must have seen over 30 patients and 15 staff (even with the drs strike) For the 1st time we had an ungrateful git who shouted, was told to get out and not be allowed in hospital (he wasn't even the patient and the patient agreed to have us in the room - poor her😥!!!) I had to drag mummy out of the room quickly before she even began to open her mouth 🤐🤐🤫🤬
All in all, it was a good day ❤️

So yesterday when Bitsy and I volunteered at NGH we did 3 wards, Allebone (stroke ward) Esther White (assessment ward) and Eleanor ward (frailty/acute ward) which we haven't been on before.

We saw approx. 27 patients. As Bitsy and I were finishing we were saying hello to people waiting for visiting time. I was asked by a couple if Bitsy had visited Abington ward because their mother had a small photo of a dog looking very similar to Bitsy. I was thrilled to know that I took the photo with their mother and Bitsy. They thanked me so much for the photo that made their elderly mum smile and happy. The daughter now carries the photo around with her all the time.
Sometimes it's just the little things ❤️❤️

So yesterday when Bitsy and I volunteered at NGH we went to Walter Tull ward and saw 15 patients and took 2 photos of Bitsy having a cuddle. We then went to resus and saw 3 patients there, on to FIT STOP which are assessment bays and chatted to 5 patients there. Finally we went to the urgent care bays and saw 4 patients there 🐕🥰❤️

Yesterday Bitsy and I volunteered at NGH in Abington ward and A&E resus. We saw 23 patients including a 98 year blind veteran. Been married 70 years, he could remember meeting his wife, what she wore and the wedding as well as lots of memories. I took a photo of him and Bitsy, even though he was blind - he could show it to his treasured wife and daughter, and think of all the good memories ❤️

So on Tuesday Bitsy and I volunteered at NGH and went to Walter Tull ward and saw about 20 patients and spoke to a God, oops I meant a consultant who was really interested in the 'therapy' work Bitsy did. I think he was impressed when I asked him to note the patients reactions. Took 2 photos of Bitsy and the patient with my polaroid.

Then Bitsy and I did A&E and resus. Was able to help two patients who hadn't smiled since being bought in by ambulance (but then who would!!!!). The families were really grateful which makes one of the reasons why doing this is so rewarding. ❤️

So last week Bitsy and I didn't volunteer at NGH because Amber Crate-Lionel had a check up at Royal Orthopedic Hospital in Birmingham.

Today we went to Esther White ward, A&E, resus and urgent care. It was extremely busy, we saw 34 staff members including 7 paramedics coming and going in one area, consultants, nurses, HCAs and approx. 27 patients including a 98yr old lady.

Saw some happy tears 🥲 from the nurses in resus where the patients haven't been responding to voice but to feeling Bitsy being near they have smiled (hopefully not a grimace!!)

UPDATE:
So Bella saw the vet and thankfully he couldn't feel any break in Bella's leg. However he did say that she has probably twisted a tendon/ligament because she couldn't move her leg around or stretched. Poor Bella Boo is on stronger meds and has to be crate rested for a couple of weeks.
But at least she came home which I am so thankful for 🥰🙏❤️

Poor Bella hurt her leg yesterday and can't put any weight on it. She's already on anti-inflammatories and painkillers. Have vets appointment today but feeling very emotional because keep thinking it will be a one way trip 🌈💔 She's no longer insured due to her age and the premium being too high for me to afford. Why are dogs only on this planet for so little time 👼😭😭😭

Bella

Sometimes life is fragile and instead of a helping hand, try a helping paw.

I decided to train Bella, my 6 year old Labrador Retriever as a therapy dog whilst I was struggling with my own mental health, to give me comfort and emotional support. Now I want to give that opportunity to others in a variety of ways. My aim is to combine working with Bella as a therapy dog on a volunteer basis to provide emotional support through being with a dog.

I am also a doTERRA wellness advocate. I will often use essential oils on Bella so that others can reap the rewards which these oils provide. I will use a calming one on children from nursery to school age and sometimes I will use an uplifting one whilst at University.
