Cllr Felicity Davies - Winnington and Castle

Cllr Felicity Davies - Winnington and Castle Myself and Arthur Neil are the Labour Councillors for Winnington and Castle. Published and promoted by the Labour Party. https://www.cheshirewestlabour.com/

Myself and Arthur Neil are standing as the labour candidates in Winnington and Castle. Having attended Charles Darwin Primary School and with family living in the area I have some really fond memories and for this reason am standing as a councillor. Councils across the country have been facing significant challenges in funding over the years. I would really like to take on these challenges to help improve things for residents in Winnington and Castle. Labour has a strong manifesto for Northwich. Please have a read if you are interested and hope you'll vote for us on May 4th.

Cllr Arthur Neil - Winnington and Castle and I had a meeting at Holy Trinity yesterday to try and resolve an ongoing issue in the ward, fingers crossed will get sorted. Walked past this when meeting for lunch in town after the meeting. So so beautiful and hadn't noticed before.

Walked back over the bridge to a second meeting at Winnington Urban Village. So lovely!

Consultation date announced for the proposed car park plans.

Arthur and I have had enquiries about this, it seems opinion is divided on whether or not plans should go ahead. It would be good to keep on continuing to know what people think. We will be there.

There’s also frequently asked questions at the bottom of the below link. Please let us know if anything not clear or with any feedback, we can forward on to Northwich Town Council or email them directly.

Thursday 23rd October 10am - 7pm

Please also note, this hasn’t been submitted to CWAC planning yet. This is a consultation before any plans submitted, for discussion with community.

I am also only relaying this news and it would be good to hear people’s thoughts!

The public are invited to see and comment on the proposed plans to develop a new car park in a small section of Verdin Park in Northwich, which would result in more spaces being available for patients at the Victoria Infirmary (VIN).

This is brilliant stuff.

Yesterday we met with our local PCSO regarding an issue in our ward. The PCSO met us at the area where the issue is happening and spoke to a number of residents.

It was a very positive meeting and all parties felt happy with actions discussed. As ever, please contact us, or Northwich North Police with any issues you would like to see resolved.

The PCSO we were with was excellent - very lovely, fair and proactive. Thank you to this PCSO for the work they do. I am so glad we have this kind of support. Thank you to all those that work within it.

A great scheme which we would appreciate any input on.... please put forward any suggestions. Thank you.

The council are trialling a Community led minor Highways improvements scheme. They are rotating across the borough. For one week they will be in W&C conducting minor maintenance such as:

Clearing encroaching small areas of grass and weeds from footways or paths
General low-level tree pruning and branch removal to address overhanging vegetation (tree ownership would need to be confirmed)
Low level hedge trimming and maintenance (would not include private hedges)
Cleaning road signs, fingerposts, street nameplates and bollards
Straightening / refixing loose signs
Removing debris off the top of gullies (not cleansing)

We have places we can suggest based on people letting us know but if you have any further suggestions please get in touch.

I'm on the people's committee at the council. Often at our meetings we have reports touching on foster caring and kids in care. If you would like to know more about being a foster carer there is a link below. You could transform someone's life.

A post about Fly Tipping!

Cllr Arthur Neil - Winnington and Castle and I are trying to support certain areas in our ward in terms of getting them aesthetically improved. Fly - tipping is a really difficult problem.

Two people in our borough have recently been prosecuted for fly-tipping. Please don't do it. It has a real impact on others wellbeing and the general neighborhood.

Thank you.

It was really good to be able to attend this and hear about the story behind the VIN. This will be such a good asset for our community. The people there all evidently cared very strongly about improving healthcare services and reducing waiting lists in Northwich. This was before my time; well done to Andrew, Sam, Kate and Bob Cernik.

Thank you to everyone who helped with this.

*Local Plan Consultation - IMPORTANT*

The council are seeking views on the local plan. Please do fill in the consultation form if you can. This is the plan the council uses for planning decisions. Very important to shaping development in our area. If you don't want to fill the form in but have a view email me and I can feed it back.

It's a hefty document.......!

*Hearing on the Solar Farm at Wallerscote*

Today we attended the hearing for the solar farm along with local residents, other CWAC councillors and parish councillors. We worked together and put in a lot of effort to oppose this appeal. The inspector was very fair - giving us as much opportunity to comment and ask questions.

I really enjoyed working on this because we worked so well together. This was a truly collaborative effort with people working cross - party to address this issue and represent concerns, for the benefit of our communities. People spoke passionately, robustly and professionally.

This was in no way a case of NIMBYISM, this was a very genuine case of concern regarding the implications of a high volume of HGV movements per day through residential areas coupled with broader concerns. This is simply not the right site for 2.65 million tonnes of soil and subsequent solar panels.

The final decision will not be known for a few months but well done to everyone that either spoke today or wrote a representation about this proposal.

If you require any further information please get in touch. I also respect that there may be people in support of this application. I don't want those people to feel isolated in their opinion. However, we strongly feel this isn't the right site for this proposal; confirmed by the planning committee who rejected it after appropriate scrutiny.

Thanks to Sue Smallwood for the photos of the lime beds.
