Is your baby learning to walk… and suddenly waking more at night?

This is so common!

When babies are mastering big milestones like walking, their brains are working overtime 🧠✨

That extra excitement and development can lead to:
• more night wakings
• shorter naps
• early mornings
• increased restlessness

This doesn’t mean sleep is “broken” — it’s a developmental sleep disruption!

The good news?
👉 This phase is temporary
👉 Consistency is key
👉 Supporting sleep around milestones makes a huge difference
Save this if your baby is cruising, standing, or taking first steps 🤍
Comment “WALKING” if you’re in this phase right now, & I’ll send you my FREE sleep guide to help :)

Is this your toddler?

So many parents of toddlers struggle with early wakes & this is why

When sleep dips under 10 hours this is your sign to begin weaning off the nap

I have a great nap transition blog post you can read for free

My toddler sleep guide has just been updated, helping you calculate your toddlers 24 hour sleep needs, routine examples to wean off the nap, including step by step on how to drop that last nap

Let me know your struggles in the comments?

Are you a breastfeeding mum worrying about this?

Honestly I get it & hear this all the time

And I honestly haven’t had a single mum who hasn’t found a new way of connecting

The only thing I think many mums forget, is when you can share the bedtime settles, wakes, it really helps you feel more supported, have the confidence to have a break one evening, which is great!

check out my blog post on night weaning your toddler, and for a deeper dive I have my gentle night weaning guide, & night weaning program in my bio

Share with your partner or a friend that needs to see this ❤️

Firstly this may seem very IG perfect, but I can assure you we had a very rocky relationship in the early days

Nothing can prepare you for how tough becoming parents is on your relationship

As a woman who breastfed, who took maternity leave (yes I’m lucky I got 9 months with my babies) but I lost my identity!

I went from being in a very senior corporate job to being alone with a baby, when my husband went to work! My body changed, I full pf hormones! Breastfeeding was hard, I had PPA & he didn’t get it

I found it difficult not to feel resentful even though I breastfed & he couldn’t help, it still was tough

The moment everything changed was when we started communicated our feelings

This enabled to consider each other

Something that wasn’t normalised which needs to be, is that this is not your time to be priority, it’s normal for baby to come first. This is a phase of life ❤️

They grow & little by little need you less ❤️

Highly Sensitive Children + Sleep

What works is often very different to other children!

I’ve worked with thousands of families & honestly sleep with children that aren’t highly sensitive is much easier

You can stretch wake windows, have high energy play before sleep

Highly sensitive kids feel everything more, they are so emotive! They get dysregulated so easily!

These are those babies that cried so much as babies without any obvious cause….

Could not be put down for a moment & this went on for a longtime!

Their nervous systems and response to stimuli is very different

If I hadn’t parented a child like this, I would honestly not believe this stuff. It sounds a little OTT!

But 7 years into parenting a child like this, & having worked with many, their sensitivity needs handling differently!

Do you have a highly sensitive child?

Little reminder if you choose to feed to sleep

Feeding to sleep is a super power

It’s never a negative thing

It either works for you or it doesn’t

The health benefits breastfeeding offers, if you are able to feed on demand this is an amazing flex

We would all love our baby to sleep through the night, but truly it’s normal for breastfed babies to wake & feed

It’s a huge win to be able to say you breastfed on demand ❤️

My sleep super star ⭐️

This mum was so nervous to try the routine I was suggesting

It went against everything she had believed about infant sleep

But she trusted me, & had followed my amazing client success stories for a while

I say this a lot because it’s so important parents understand this before choosing a sleep coach

The training & experience make a coach

I’m 3x certified but I’ve supported thousands of families now, & it honestly wasn’t until I was hundreds of families in I really became a true expert in understanding sleep, differing sleep needs, how to identify exactly what a child needs to make big improvements

This was such an amazing mum to work with

When those mums of super chill easy babies ask you this 😂

My son was such a high energy kid he had no chill! It was high energy, then fighting sleep, then passing out!

I’ve worked with loads of babies & toddlers like this so please understand you are not doing anything wrong if your baby is like this

Things that can help
High energy play before the bedtime routine
For some avoiding a bath if they are hyper after
Full body play before starting calm time

For more guidance check out my baby sleep guide it has full bedtime routines for high energy babies & toddlers
