Dry eye making life a bit miserable?
If your eyes feel gritty, sore, blurry or as though you have a handful of sand trapped under your lids, you might be dealing with dry eye disease. There are a few different types and the right treatment depends on which one your eyes fall into.

Aqueous deficient dry eye happens when your eyes are not producing enough of the watery part of your tears. Evaporative dry eye appears when your tears disappear too quickly because the oil glands in your eyelids are not behaving. Mixed dry eye is a delightful blend of both, and inflammatory dry eye is when irritation or inflammation upsets the fragile balance of the tear film.

Screen time, air conditioning, heating, hormones, ageing and certain medications often play a starring role in causing or worsening symptoms. If you find yourself dealing with burning, redness, blurred vision, light sensitivity or that persistent gritty feeling, it is worth getting things checked.

The good news, dry eye can be managed once you know which type you are dealing with. Our consultants will look at your tear quality, tear production, gland health and even your blink pattern, then build a treatment plan that fits your eyes and your lifestyle.
