The feedback that I get from my clients is generally very positive about the maternity services staff at NUH so it's interesting to see that they unfortunately still require improvement. But I do suspect that this may be the same for a lot, if not most trusts up and down the country so please don't let it worry you too much. But remember that you always have a choice over where you wish to birth.

Today, March 4, the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) report into our maternity services was published.
We remain committed to continued improvement in our maternity services and recognise that there is more work to do following the publication of our latest CQC report.
The report from the healthcare regulator, which reviewed maternity services at Nottingham City Hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) in May 2025, found that there had been no change in the Trust’s overall rating of ‘Requires Improvement’ for maternity services.
The CQC were complimentary of the care provided, and recognised the positive comments of the women and families using the services, explaining that patients had ‘nothing but praise’ for the staff they were cared for by. But did also also identify some vitally important areas in which they required us to improve, including in safety, culture and leadership.
We take the feedback from the CQC very seriously. We are working to address the issues raised in the latest inspection.
