Counselling isn’t about giving you advice or telling you what to do. It is to help you draw on your own strengths and resources, so you are able to find the solution that works best for you.

You will be encouraged to talk, to think and to express your feelings. This then becomes a unique opportunity to discover what you really feel, so that you can take account of your needs and wants.

Sometimes counselling can be a challenging process although when undertaken in a supportive and trustworthy environment can be a positive one.

During counselling I will help you to explore what is important to you. I may ask questions and am trained to listen.

I will often clarify and reflect your comments back to you and encourage further exploration so that we both develop an accurate picture of the situation. This is done so you are able to develop a fresh perspective of your situation and see new possibilities.

Counselling can help deal with many of the issues that you may face on a daily basis. Some of these may relate to work, others to your life outside work, but they will all affect your sense of wellbeing and can be addressed through counselling.

Seeing a counsellor can help you understand more fully your situation, review the options and decide upon actions.

Sometimes counselling helps people make important changes in their lives, but equally it may help people live more creatively with situations that cannot easily be changed.
