My practice spans more than 21 years:
Art psychotherapy, and integrated therapy and counselling, with people of all ages – individuals, groups, couples and families. I have worked extensively within adult, and child and adolescent, mental health services within the NHS, charitable and voluntary organisations and in private practice. In addition to my private practice, examples of substantive posts I have held include: Lead Art Psychotherapist in Specialist CAMHS, Derbyshire Health Care NHS Foundation Trust; Inpatient Therapist Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust; manager and supervisor at Thornby Hall Therapeutic Community for severely disturbed adolescents and young adults. Supervision provision and consultation within statutory health, social care and education agencies, charitable and voluntary organisations and in private practice, with qualified practitioners and trainees, managers and people with pastoral roles. Examples of professions and backgrounds I have provided supervision and consultation to include Art Psychotherapists, Dramatherapist, Systemic Psychotherapist, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Psychologist, Social Workers, Family Resource Workers, School Nurses, Domestic Violence Specialist, Play specialist, Sexual Abuse Project Therapist, Youth Worker, Special Needs Co-Ordinators. Organisations include Mental Health Services, Early Interventions in Psychosis service, Sexual Abuse service, Personality Disorder service, Schools, Therapeutic Community. I am a senior lecturer for the Masters in Art Therapy training at the University of Derby, MA Art Therapy http://www.derby.ac.uk. I have particular responsibility for facilitating the reflective practice groups that support practice placements of our trainees and am module leader for arts therapy theories and research in relation to practice one. A firm believer that continuing art practice is essential for Art Psychotherapy practice, as artist and musician I am currently exploring the potential of photography, video and composition.
