💛 Testicular Cancer Awareness

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men, but it is also one of the most treatable when detected early. Raising awareness and encouraging regular self‑checks can make a significant difference.

We encourage all men, particularly those aged 15–49, to be familiar with what is normal for them and to seek medical advice promptly if they notice any changes.

Symptoms to be aware of include:
• A lump or swelling in one testicle
• A feeling of heaviness in the sc***um
• A change in the size or shape of a testicle
• A dull ache in the lower abdomen or groin
• Discomfort or pain in a testicle or the sc***um

These symptoms do not always indicate cancer, but they should never be ignored.

💛 Early detection saves lives
If you have any concerns or notice any changes, please contact the surgery for advice. Our clinical team is here to support you and provide guidance.

Our March Statistics

‼️OVER 31 hours wasted ‼️

We unfortunately continue to see a high number of Did Not Attend (DNA) appointments each month. These missed appointments mean other patients wait longer and valuable clinical time is lost.

Please remember to cancel if you can’t make it — it only takes a moment and helps us care for everyone more efficiently.

Thank you for your support

To cancel your appointment:
➡Use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
➡Using the GP online system – SystmOnline
➡Phone us on 0115 9857944, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00 am to 6:30 pm; Thursday 7:00 am to 6:30 pm
➡Reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message

💚April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month💙

This month, we’re helping to raise awareness of bowel cancer — one of the most common cancers in the UK, but also one of the most treatable when found early.

Knowing the signs and taking part in routine screening can make a huge difference. If something doesn’t feel right, we’re here to listen.

Possible symptoms can include:
• Persistent changes in bowel habits
• Blood in your stool
• Ongoing abdominal discomfort
• Unexplained weight loss
• Feeling very tired without a clear reason

These symptoms don’t always mean cancer, but it’s important to get them checked.

🟦 Bowel Screening Saves Lives
If you’re eligible for the NHS bowel screening programme, please remember to complete and return your kit. It’s quick, simple, and can detect early changes before symptoms appear.

The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) programme is being expanded to protect those aged 80 years and older, as well as residents in care homes for older adults.

The coming change are from 1 April 2026, and will expand the eligibility criteria for the older adult RSV programme, to also include those aged 80 years and over (with no upper age limit). This means all adults aged 75 years and over who have not previously received a single dose of RSV vaccine under the NHS RSV campaign will be eligible for the vaccine
