We understand how important mental health is and that one of the best ways to alleviate the stresses of everyday life is exercise!
This mental health week we are raising money for local mental health charity MIND.

πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈSunday 18th May, 10AM, Yoga & Relaxation ClassπŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ
FREE to all including non-members, we just ask for a Β£5 charity donation. Book via the app or at reception today!

Just look at this beautiful little yogi being a beautiful butterfly πŸ¦‹

We practiced butterfly pose during a session at Weddington Pre School earlier this week.

We focused inside our bodies to see where we could feel the stretch, then discussed which colour butterfly we would like to be πŸ¦‹

This gorgeous little yogi then showed her Grandma what she had been learning πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

I am very grateful to be able to share yoga and all of its many benefits with children so young.

In my opinion it should be taught as part of the curriculum in every school as a way to support children to manage their well-being and ultimately their mental health.

Empowering children with techniques to cope with the stresses that life can bring is my passion πŸ™ŒπŸ»

🌈 On World Mental Health Day let’s break the stigma and normalise talking about our mental health. Sending love and healing to those struggling on a daily basis and fighting battles we can’t see. πŸ’œ Another qualification in the bag with specialyogaglobalπŸ’œ

πŸ’– I learnt how to adapt yoga to different diagnoses and situations. The course covered ADHD, ASD, complex autism, autistic girls, autistic children in mainstream education, quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, hemiplegia, PMLD and Down Syndrome for children through to young adults.

πŸ’– The course included learning about postures breathwork, mindfulness, relaxation, sound & rhythm, massage & energy and more.

πŸ’– There was focus a on sensory integration and the importance of regulating the nervous system, particularly in neurodivergent children and adults. Yoga poses often involve various sensory experiences, such as stretching, balancing, and grounding. This sensory input can be beneficial for children with sensory processing disorders, helping them better integrate sensory information and improve their ability to focus and engage in daily activities.

⭐️ I LOVE to learn and grow in order to further support the children and families that I am blessed to share yoga with. I have always felt drawn to work with children with additional needs and have had the pleasure of supporting so many wonderful children throughout my career ⭐️

Biography

Joanne is a qualified children’s and Teen yoga teacher with YOGAKIDZ WORLDWIDE and TEEN YOGA. Joanne offers yoga to children and young people from 3-21 years in the community, nurseries, schools, and runs 1:1, family sessions and bespoke Birthday parties.

Joanne has supported children and families in a variety of roles including SENCO, β€˜Child in need’, direct therapeutic work and is proud to have been a unit leader for homeless children in NYC.

Joanne is very knowledgeable in SEND and specialises in this area, alongside mental health and well-being. Joanne is able to incorporate a variety of strategies into her teaching and has a great insight into the challenges that children with SEND and their parents/carers face on a daily basis.

Joanne teaches in an energetic, playful yet sensitive style and weaves self-esteem and confidence building, emotional intelligence and a sense of community and acceptance throughout her classes.
