π£ Important Meningitis Vaccine Update
There is currently a meningitis outbreak impacting University of Kent students in Canterbury, Kent. We want to ensure our patients understand the latest NHS vaccine guidance:
β‘οΈ Children born from 2014 onwards will have received MenB as part of their routine vaccines, provided they attended their GP immunisation appointments.
π MenB vaccine schedule:
β’ Given at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 1 year old
β’ Missed doses can be given up to age 2
π MenACWY vaccine schedule:
β’ Given in school at age 13/14
β’ If missed, it can still be given by your GP up to age 25

π¨ New NHS England Update
From today, NHS England has requested GP practices to support Canterbury, Kent university students who are eligible for the MenB vaccine to receive it.
If you are a university student who has recently returned home from Canterbury, please:
π Contact your GP surgery to check if you are eligible and to book your vaccination.

For any other patients, there has been no further national guidance at this time, however please speak to your local pharmacy for information on how to obtain the vaccine.
