So great to be back sharing the paths of the beautiful Oakham Canal last Sunday for a group Wild Wellbeing Walk, noticing the signs of spring around us and reflecting on an inner spring clean.

We looked for signs of last season and how they are important for this seasons growth, as well as letting anything go that doesn't need carrying into our next season.

We stood with our faces in the cool breeze and felt it blowing away all the cobwebs.

The paths were lined with colour and so much to explore , white comfrey, dandelions, celandine, ground ivy, some Marsh marigold, as well as cleavers, spring nettles and Jack by the hedge.

We found ourselves a peaceful place to stop and do a sit spot activity, a stillness practice helping us sink in to the beautiful natural space. How often do you spend 15 minutes in pure stillness in nature, just noticing ?

We also practiced a flow/river breath whole standing on the central bridge, listening to the water.

Finishing the walk through a finale of black thorn blossom 🌸🌸

Natural spaces by water allow all sorts of wonderful chemical reactions in our body that enhance mood and bring a sense of wellbeing, as well as gentle walking and sharing the path with others, we nurture connection with ourselves, others and the natural world around us.

So grateful for all the work that Oakham Canal Green Corridor Project do to keep this green space open and accessible.

Keep a look out for our next Wild Wellbeing Walk

So grateful to those who shared the path for our Wellbeing Walk on Saturday and for the wonderful work that Nene Rivers Trust do for these spaces and I am delighted to take part in the Nene Valley Works project.

During the walk we explored the 5 stages of the nature connection Spiral.

1️⃣We started at the first stage - Visiting. This is what we mostly all do when we are in nature, we are there, just as we are in any place we visit.

Using a grounding practice to sink a little deeper, feeling our feet on the earth, shifting weight from left to right, focusing on our breath, the sounds around us, and inside us, taking some time to bring our mind and body to the present moment.

2️⃣The second stage - Learning.
We walked the path with curiosity noticing anything, plant, bird, butterfly etc. That we didn't know the name of and spent some time finding out. When we allow curiosity to be tangible we then carry that knowledge and connection with that thing with us.

3️⃣The third stage - Retreating.
Many of us are familiar with this one, as we often go for a walk to clear our head. We used a sit spot practice to bring the curiosity inwards, what did the landscape around us maybe reflect in our inner landscape.

4️⃣The fourth stage - Belonging.

The Stanwick lakes area has been a place of belonging for thousands of years. Settlements from bronze age people and later Romans have been found here. Their relationship much closer to the natural world than ours. We sat in one of the reconstructions of a bronze age round house to think about this and how we can bring this belonging to nature into our own lives.

Before moving on we used somatic stretching and pandiculation to activate our parasympathetic nervous system, ready for the next part of the walk.

5️⃣The fith stage - Home.
When there is no seperation between us and the natural world. We felt into this as we sat watching the river Nene flow by, and practiced a river breath technique, breathing in and out through the nose as one continous flow, noticing how we are not unlike the river, sometimes full and fast, sometimes slow and gentle, meandering along our path.

When we connect with nature this way we realise we are nature.

Women have been circling for thousands of years.

Across cultures and generations, they have gathered around fires, in kitchens, in forests, in homes, to share stories, wisdom, grief, laughter and life itself. Circle is one of the oldest forms of community. No hierarchy. No performance. Just women sitting as equals.

This women’s circle is a new remembering of that ancient rhythm.

It is a space to pause and reconnect, to self, to instinct, to creativity, to the wild and wise within. Through sharing, guided visualisation, gentle somatic movement and simple seasonal practices, we explore the themes that shape our lives.

Circle offers belonging. Resonance. Sisterhood.
A place to be witnessed without judgement.

You do not need to be anything other than who you are.

It is a remembering.
A softening.
A returning home to yourself.

Most of us do hear our inner no.
We just learn to override it.

Why do we do this ?
• We say yes to keep the peace.
• To be kind or not unkind.
• To be reasonable.
• Because we don’t want to disappoint, rock the boat, or seem difficult.
• Often there is a gain, belonging, approval, safety, being liked.

And at some point in our lives, those things really mattered.

Why do all these matter more than what we truly feel inside though ?

When over time, the cost can show up as resentment, exhaustion, or a quiet sense of being out of step with ourselves.

This Spiral circle isn’t about becoming more confident or louder.

It’s about becoming more attuned.
Relearning how the body signals a yes and a no.

Practising how to honour that information gently, without force or justification.
We work slowly, through story, somatic exploration, reflection and simple ritual, in a way that can be taken back into everyday life.
If your body softened, tightened, or paused while reading this,
Its time.

Spiral is a women’s circle, facilitated by MindEmbodywild and held in Exton Village Hall, offering a calm, welcoming space to slow down, come back into the body, and listen inward.

It’s a place to step out of busyness and into a more natural rhythm, one rooted in presence, honesty, and gentle attention.

Across the year, Spiral follows the turning of the seasons and weaves together myth, symbolism, simple ritual, and somatic practices as ways of exploring our inner landscapes. Much of this year’s journey is inspired by Women Who Run With the Wolves, not as a book club, but as a lived, embodied exploration, allowing stories to be felt, sensed, and integrated through the body rather than analysed.

Each circle is fully guided and stands alone, so you can join at any point. Over the last year, a sense of continuity and community has naturally formed, with shared language, trust, and depth growing gently from gathering to gathering.

A circle may include:
• A gently held sharing space (sharing is always optional)
• Story, guided journeys, and symbolism
• Simple somatic or body-based practices
• Nature-inspired ritual and time to integrate

Spiral is for women who feel drawn to slow down, reconnect with themselves and others, and build relationship with their instinct and intuition, listening to what the body is quietly communicating.

No prior experience is needed, and there is nothing to prepare, you’re welcome just as you are.

If you have been wintering and are slowly starting to stretch and emerge into the days that are getting a little lighter, this time of year, many of us feel that first soft nudge to step back outside again.
Wellbeing walks are a gentle bridge between hibernation and movement.
Just nature, nervous system support, and space to land back in your body.
If your body’s been whispering, “I think I’m ready to come out again,” this might be for you.

Hi I am Karly,

I love my name, it came from my German Grandfather Karl, and it means warrior.

While I feel there have been parts of my life that I have battled through, with the more typical meaning of warrior (and dont get me wrong I am strong AF). This part of my life has been about the gentle warrior, about softening, and that this tenderness is strength.

To say no to systems that cause harm, that push me against my nature, that corrupt my natural rhythms, and to allow rest, tending, and stillness, is strength.

I am aware for many, this doesn't look like strength, but I've looked at and tried what is expected of me as a person, as a woman, as a mother in this society, and said 'nope, no thank you'. That is not weak.

No to the bone deep tiredness that sleep doesn't relieve, no to the aches and pains, no to the ignoring our bodies and natural rhythms, no to the headaches and people pleasing. No to schedules where we can barely squeeze a moment in to breathe, and when we do we feel guilty, No to all that.

Here you can find the gentle reclaim of your SELF.

The path is yours, only you can walk it.

However having a gentle warrior by your side who knows the path, is a pretty great resource.

I thought my body was trying to kill me. I was so mad at it. It was stopping me from doing the things I wanted to be able to do. I was a shell of my athletic self, everything was crumbling, I was ill in many ways.

But My body did not hate me.

My body was communicating to me, and it took me a long time to realise that of course my body wanted to live and be healthy, but it couldn't keep up with what I was asking of it.

I was not living in alignment, I was not able to say no, any opportunity to feel more valuable as a human I would jump at, more, more, more, push, push, push.

I was not able to hold boundaries, I was not able to say no, I people pleased, and competed for value, both physically and emotionally.

My body was letting me know we couldn't keep living that way.

Although I felt happy, because I was packing my life full of things, I was chronically stressed, and my body was struggling.

This environment is not where we thrive.

This is not where alignment and contented living comes from.

It took me longer than I would like to admit before I listened to my screaming body, and when I did, I was so so sorry. I can't believe I pushed my life vessel through so much, that it was doing so much for me and I was mad at it and wanted more.

The point of unity between my mind and body was slow and subtle and then loud and loving.

For the first time I realised I am so valuable without any of the things I was pushing for. Freedom.

This was just the first step and ups and downs followed. It takes time to learn this trust.

Do you stop often to think of all the things your body does for you?

The uncomfortable social etiquette we subscribe to, what we ask our bodies to endure, And then question why you might not feel well, get ill, have infections, headaches, poor sleep, dizziness, aches and pains?

What would it feel like to be on the same team as your body? To be in collaboration, to communicate, and honour its wisdom?

I love my body so much, I am so grateful to it every day. It wants me to he here, to live in joy and happiness, and be as healthy as it can be.
