RDYF - Rutland Disabled Youth Forum

RDYF (Rutland Disabled Youth Forum) is a group for young people aged 13-25 with additional needs. Support and PIZZA is provided! Meetings are FREE to attend.

We meet on the first Wednesday of each month, at the Family Hub in Oakham, 6-8pm. There are different topics each session so feel free to join us when it is of interest to you, there is no pressure.

🧠 It's Dyspraxia Awareness Week! 🧠

It is estimated that 3% - 10% of the UK population have Dyspraxia and that it is more common in males they are 4 times more likely to be affected than females. Please check the photo's for more information about Dyspraxia.

This evening we discussed the topics for the Rutland Youth Summit in 2026 then we discussed One Page Profiles and the use of them.

👍 International Sign Languages Day 👌

The day works to increase awareness of sign languages and the challenges faced by deaf people. It is a unique opportunity to support and protect the cultural diversity and linguistic identity of deaf people and all other sign language users.

This evening we joined Rutland Youth Council with Mark Andrews and Kevin Quinn to discuss the devolution and what that means for Rutland.

This evening we joined the virtual Regional Young People’s Assembly meeting with 9 other forum from across the East Midlands! 📍

This morning we delivered our very own inclusivity training to Rutland County Council's Children's Service and Adult Servies.

Tonight we had a catch up then gave feedback for the CWD team on a survey about direct payments and updated our training

Today some of us attended Kids Collective Together Conference in Nottingham, where we spoke about what needs to change and what’s working well 🙌 Catherine McKinnell, minister for education, was also there to hear our views!

🗣 "Talk To Us" Awareness Mouth 🗣

This campaign highlights the importance of talking about mental health and reminds people that Samaritans volunteers are available 24/7 to listen to anyone struggling to cope.

This evening we celebrated 10 years of RDYF! 🎈We had presentations, pizza, cake and finished with a game of 21!

👂Deafblind Awareness Week👀

Deafblindness is a combined sight and hearing impairment which affects over 450,000 people in the UK. It doesn’t always mean no sight or hearing, although for some people this is the case. Deafblindness affects everyone differently, some people need to make small changes to the way they go about everyday life and some people will rely on others for communication and getting about.
