Lovely message received today:

Hey Sarah just wanted to extend a thank you from my siblings for all of your help with dad. It’s hugely appreciated and we’re looking forward to getting him up and out of the bed hopefully soon.

Look at me using a goniometer!! Been awhile since I’ve got this out. We are working on increasing knee extension here to enable this client to sit out in a tilt in space chair instead of being bed bound. He has severe contractures following a CVA and bed rest.

A perfect statement by Sarah Solomon, OT “medicine adds days to life. But Occupational Therapy adds life to days.”

It’s been a busy busy week here at Ask an OT. Today I decided it was bring my dog along to an informal meeting as he’s a social being too, and prefers company. He has had a lovely day and made a new doggy friend 🐾💕

And it’s a rare but lovely afternoon off for me as I head out for a Christmas lunch 🥗 🎅🎄

This week I was able to revisit a gentleman to whom I provided a riser recliner chair. This has improved his life significantly. He can now get up safely, without taking several attempts, and he no longer stumbles or falls during the transfer. Such a great result from what is really a simple solution. This cost of the chair is much much less than paramedic call outs and
hospital admissions following a fall.

Great start to the day - managed to get a 95 year old lady up out of her bed and into a tilt in space chair, first time she has been out of bed for over a year! The smile on her face reminds me why I love being an OT 💕

Quick stop for cake and a cool drink today! Delicious!
